Thanks nickyvicar, eggs ! i'd never thought about eggs, or even checked out the dates, up to now i feel Ok, but just a thought, i said before about cooking and then freezing stuff, so as you could safely use it, well what about eggs, would you boil an egg and then freeze it, if the date was getting to near.
Or is that a stupid question ?
As far as I know you cant freeze eggs. But if you want to see if they are fresh do this:
"Did you know you can test an egg and get an approximatation of its age? All you need are the eggs and a bowl of cold water.

Gently drop the egg into the bowl of water. If it:
    • sinks to the bottom and stays there, it is about three to six days old.
    • Sinks, but floats at an angle, it's more than a week old.
    • Sinks, but then stands on end, it's about two weeks old.
    • Floats, it's too old and should be discarded.
For a test just to see if the eggs are all right to use, dissolve 2 tablespoons salt in 2 cups cold water, then put the egg in the water. If it sinks, it's good; if it floats, it's too old. Eggs act this way in water because of the air sac present in all eggs. As the egg ages, the air sac gets larger because the egg shell is a semi-permeable membrane. The air sac, when large enough, makes the egg float. Eggs are generally good for about three weeks after you buy them. "

my local branch - handforth dean had baxter's soups reduced to 18p a can - there were a few varieties available at this price, mainly the healthy choices range

also looked in mr s and there were some baxter's soup reductions there as well but they were not reduced so drastically

I merchandised some new soups into the section last week and noticed the low price. There are 2 options:-
1).These are lines discontinued last year and reduced to clear , when re-ranged the price hadn't been checked. In this instance the price will go up soon.
2).These products were centrally discontinued but the warehouse has allocated them to stores to clear ( happening more often as there is no point them sitting in a warehouse is there?)

The result is the same.If you want them grab them while you can.

I live 5 minutes away from Tesco's so I haunt them, got a garden rake the other day for 12p !!! and we did need one. Am miffed tho have been waiting for them to reduce the compost, they moved it from the foyer to the reduced aisle but it was still2 quid, popped in the next day and it had all gone - so I missed out.
