Well we finally booked a holiday, we are off to Majorca for 2 weeks in October, there are 4 of us going OH, me and my friend (the one whose OH died a few weeks ago)and her SIL to make the 4 up.
We asked her where she wanted to go and she chose Majorca. It was the last holiday we all had together before her OH was so ill, that was a 18 months ago. We promised him before he died that we would still take her away with us, his other wish was for us to take her on a Caribbean Cruise, he said it was his one regret that he never took her because she really wanted to go. But that will have to wait until next year, as funds wont allow for that yet. But we will do it we promised him.

Time for a cuppa I think

    Hello all

I just got back from the hospital, though not with Dave. Turns out that what we thought was a virus or food poisoning might be a lot more serious. He has had loads of tests - his blood, pee, poop, xrays, you name it. He's on a drip and they have given him morphine up to his eyeballs but he seems to be poorly but okay in himself, if you see what I mean. They think it is a problem with his pancreas (they're not being specific about what) and he will be okay, but they said it might be a little while, and that if he hadn't been seen it could have caused irreparable and fatal damage. It feels so wrong leaving him on his own but they made me. The house feels all wrong and empty which is daft because he's away overnight quite a bit. The cat seems to know something is wrong too and is wondering around the house yowing to himself, poor thing.

It seems mad how something as straightforward as throwing up for a few days could be so serious. I am so grateful to NHS direct for being alert, and my doctor coming out, and the ambulance crew, and all the nurses and the doctors at the hospital. People slag the NHS off without even thinking about it but I am so glad they exist.

And I am so, so grateful for all of your lovely prayers, hugs and thoughts. I have had a little cry and I feel a little bit stronger now. Thank you all so much :grouphug: My thanks button is a bit cranky but if your thanks isn't showing, doesn't mean it's not there. I am going to go and try to have a cup of tea and settle cat and I down for the night.

    Love to all xxxxxxxxxx
  • Silver, although it's not good for you that he's in hospital, it is positive that he is now being sorted out & hopefully will start to be slowly on the mend again now.... Hope you & cat have a good night.

Jayward, sorry I missed the bit where you'd been in hospital, hope you too are feeling a bit better.

Just sitting here waiting for the most almighty storm to subside... We have had a strange, sad but nice evening here. My DD's best friend who died on Sunday morning would have been 16 today. She & lots of friends met up a park round the corner for a couple of hours earlier this evening, then at about 9.30ish they all came round here, including his older sister, and let off fireworks in his memory. There were loads of teenagers here, all very respectful of who they were here to remember. At that point only lightning was going but no thunder. Zac never liked thunder apparently so it seemed very fitting that his presence was felt by the lightning show during the whole time the fireworks were going off.... The rain & storm only started properly around 11ish, just after everyone had gone. Very strange timing.

It seems to be quietening down a bit now, even the poor cats hid under the bed earlier some of the thunder was scarily loud....

Night all, hope you sleep well. xx
