OS Wednesday 6th August 2008

This is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 6th August 2008. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well
:bdaycake: Jayward - Hope you have a lovely day and DH spoils you rotten.
:bdaycake: AnnieBL - I did look at today's birthdays to check I hadn't missed anyone, but you weren't there, hope you get spoilled rotten too.

Didn't manage to get here yesterday, new washer/dryer arrived, and managed to dispose of old washer and dryer, didn't get much but better than nothing and they were 8 years old. Saved over £100 by buying via web, and it was delivered in under 7 days direct from Hotpoint, very impressed with the service, must add a review for them. Ensuite stuff arrived, and we placed in in place so DH could see the size layout, he now feels OK about it again. Continuing with the slow declutter, got another couple of items I am going to try in our local paper shop window, as they are too large to post for E-Bay, but debating whether to put them on the local/collect only section. It is a 1p day tomorrow but that only applied if it is a nominal value item, and these are not (new gents bike and caravan awning), and I would hate the risk of them going for £1, I don't know if other charges are retrospectively reduced, will have to look tomorrow. Only sold on there once before. Builder due today so hopefully things will start moving again.

Frugal - could you please change your font colour - my eyes are not that good.

Kaat - I take it that was the road to DRI?

N9eav - While I can remember some gorgeous sunny holidays in Cornwall as a child, the last time we ventured there was the first year we bought the caravan about 1992, and we went down with DS about 7-8. It was not warm or dry , he had to play out in wellies and sorts - as we could towel his legs dry but not get trousers dry. We got on the beach twice out of two weeks, and the second time ended up hiring him a wet suit so he could get in the sea it was that cold. We were at Newquay, and there was an air display a couple of fields behind us, but it had to be called off due to the bad visibility, nearly fog like. Hope it picks up for you and all the holiday makers soon.

:grouphug: to those who need them, and  to all.
Take care

Morning Donny, how are the renovations going
    Happy Birthday Jayward :bdaycake:

Up bright and early this morning, I've just parcelled Mr Twit off to Nottingham, he has taken his bag of clothes, but who knows when he will return.
In my plans, I've got lots to do and sort out whilst he is away, although how much will actually happen remains to be seen.
Work today, and I've got to visit cash and carry, so I think I'll get there for when it opens at 7am and frighten the staff.

Kaat-Lady, hope your OH is feeling better, pleased it was just a false alarm.
N9eav, has it stopped raining yet, or have you submitted plans for an ark?
Mioliere, have you finished those favours yet, we only had a hunt for Mr Twit's spare glasses this morning, oh and he left me details of an invoice he wants doing (sound familiar) :rotfl:
Catowen, are the kids getting excited about London and is there any sign of that tractor?
Shez, have you got to the bottom of the washing pile yet?
Is Princess Pixie OK, not seen her for a while

Off for a shower, back soon.

    Hugs to those in need
Love to all The Twit :grouphug:

Good Morning, Donny-Gal and all who follow - I hope everyone has a good day. :) Off to work in a few minutes but wanted to stop by. Am still yawning! I must take care of the weekly shop tonight, and I'm hoping it won't come to as much as the list looks like it will (if that makes sense). I need to get rather a lot of stuff and, ah well, we'll see when the time comes. I'm at mum's tonight so no need to cook, bless her. :)

:bdaycake: Jayward - have a great day!

Not feeling too well at the moment, but it's probably nerves. Of what, I have no idea (I get like this sometimes). Oh, and I must make a birthday cake for my soon to be sister in law. Anyway, got to run - work calls! (((hugs to those in need)))

Up early this morning as the cold has turned into a full blown cough and my throat feels like it has been sanded :o

Work today, so salad for lunch, and an Asda cottage pie for dinner. I will put it in the Remoska to heat it up while we are out with the dog later.

    Happy B'day Jayward.
I babysat last night for DGS & DGD, DGS 4 was as good as gold & went to bed with very little arguement, DGD 8mos has decided she doesn't like Nana, which made it difficult when she needed her bottle, she was hungry but burst into tears whenever I looked at her, lol. I ended up feeding her by resting her back against mine & holding the bottle in front of her. She seems to be ok with my other DD, I wonder if it is because I sound like her Mum but don't smell right.
Cod & pancetta fish cakes for tea.
I hope everyone has a good day.
    Hugs Hester

I need to decide what I'm doing next week. I had planned to go to Bath for a few days but after last night's spending spree I'm not sure if I can justify it. My dbro also wants me to join his family camping in Wales plus i have painting to do - decisions decisions.

Anyhoo need to have a quick swish and swipe before w*rk - have a good day
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008

    Morning everyone.

Step-daughters gone...phew. Peace at last. I love them really, but it can get so hectic when they're here for a week. I can now get back to normal. One bonus though is that my meal plan for the week didn't work. I've still got turkey and 12 x lamb chops left in the freezer. It all amounts to another 4 meals for me and my OH.

Having an issue with the little one's t-shirts at the moment. She has a few white ones and I cannot get them clean for love nor money. She actually annointed one of mine too....and that's stained as well. Any suggestions folks? Tried a 90 wash with plenty of liquid and some of that oxy stuff (not the expensive branded vanish).

Lily contracted Strep B Meningitis Dec 2006  Now seemingly a normal little monster.

    Morning everyone

Happy Birthday to Jayward :bdaycake: (and me. :o )
(((hugs))) to all who need one and :j to those with something to celebrate.

I had one of those great days yesterday where everything goes smoothly, which is a sure sign that today will be carp. I've already given up on sleeping as my cough is just too annoying. I'm also at w**k today, on my own. Not how I would choose to spend my birthday but my boss left me with no options as he is in the middle of his three-week holiday. I suspect though that not much will actually get done today. :D

DS, DD and I will go to the gym this afternoon and then I think we will go out for dinner.

The extra memory that I ordered for the pc arrived yesterday so I wonder if today is the day that I could ask XDH to install it? ;)

There will be nothing in the way of OS in this house today so on that note I'm going to sign off. Have a wonderful Wednesday. xx
