I have always been short of time when it comes to hats, so I generally use, the elestaic bit on the socks, as a rim. Then, cut the length I want off the rest of the sock, where your ankle would be. Near to the top, do a row of loose running stitches and once you reach the end pull. That way you get the kinda gather on the top.

Hello! These sock monkeys/animals are amazing! Do any of you have websites that sell them? I would love a sock rabbit or elephant for my daughter for her birthday in may :)

There are probably lots, but if you look at Pennib's homepage and follow the links to her Etsy shop, there are some great ones on there.

I have a question, for everyone who sells sock monkeys, how much do you charge? I have been asked by a couple of people if I will make some, but I am clueless to how much to charge.

Oh, and I found a wonderful pair of socks today in Tesco. Its a 3 pack reduced to £1.75. But, one pair have pictures on them saying Funky Monkey. I m going to turn it into a t shirt for the monkey to wear.

I dont know if any of you use felt for making hats or anything, but Hobby craft have the A4 sheets on offer at the minute for 24p. There perfectly sized to make a hat as the short sided, goes around a ladies sock, monkey head. So you can get 2 hats and perhaps 2 pairs of mittens out of one sheet.
