Craftlady - he is great, and I adore his purple hat! It's nice to see another monkey on here is't been ages, this thread wasy right at the bottom of my subscriptions list for ages.
Supermum, good question. I blanket stitch the crotch closed with little neat stitches done with a fine cotton in a matching colour and a fine needle. You can see it but at least it's neat. You can stand there and agonize........

Hi everyone - I don't make Sock Monkeys but like to see what you are all doing as they are really great!
Anyway, did anyone see Lorrain Kelly on T.V. this morning? She was sent one but I can't remember who by. He was lovely.
Wondered if it was one of you ladies!0 -
Hi everyone  I have been reading through this thread for a few days and finally started my own sock monkey :j I haven't taken any pics yet but when i do i will add them to here. So far i have only done the body and tail, im sewing it all by hand so it is taking me quite some time. Does anyone have any tips on the face? The instructions i have say to use the heel for the mouth but is it bette to use the toe as the heel seems too big? Also does anyone know of a good place to buy stuffing? I was going to go to my local market tomorrow and have a look for some but i wasn't sure if anyone knows where to get it cheap on line?
Everyones sock monkeys look really good, well done everyone :T**Lloyds loan: £10370****Lloyds CC: £780****Holiday Fund: £200 ** Savings: £20**0 -
suz1988 I have used both the heel and toe for the mouth and the heel is better. Pin it in all in place before you start stitching then you can see what it will look like.
I used cushion filling for mine, from a cheap £1 cushion from the market, and it is fire retardant etc with all the relevant BS numbers. You can stand there and agonize........
