Thankyou I'm not really sure to be honest how long they took. I did them in batches as I knew how many I wanted to make. I did all the bodys at the same time & used my sewing machine to make it faster. Then I stuffed them & sewed the heads on another time by hand, then the arms. Then today I sat down for about an hour & did the faces Sorry I can't be of much help!

wow! I've been looking at your fantastic monkeys and am very impressed

I'm looking for jungle craft ideas for teenagers for a summer holiday activity club thing. Can anyone give me an idea on how long the monkeys take to make by hand (not using sewing machine)?

we could pre-cut all the bits to save time, but need to know how long the sewing would take. I'm guessing that smaller socks means quciker monekys?

I allow 3 hours to sew by hand, but that is double sewing all seams.

Pre cutting may not be a good idea, depending on the type of sock, as some fray badly, so its best to do as much sewing as possible before cutting.
Smaller socks mean that they are more fiddly to make, so can actually take longer.

You could pre mark all sewing lines in advance, but would be better sticking to paler colours if you want to do that as most markers won't show on dark colours.

Thanks. :j i really need to update it but got to make some more monkeys this week. got lovely socks that i really want to use. and i spilt tea on my laptop so thats not working so have to use my desktop which is rather awkward to use!!

i am definatly going to make the bunnies at the weekend though!

Bumpybecky - i can do a small one in an evening. the bigger ones take 2 evenings (more if knitting the clothes) sewing by hand. although i still take ages to make them when i use the machine as well! think i am a bit slow at sewing!! :rotfl:
