Freebie Successes by Letter / Email - What have you recieved? (merged)

I got a free polo shirt from guinness for my other half, i emailled them to see if they knew where i could get some of the st patricks day giveaways as my oh was on medication at the time and couldn't drink his beloved guinness!
i got a reply thanking me for contacting them but they only had a limited amount of stuff done, but that they were putting a t-shirt in the post!

it is a really nice thick black polo shirt, with the guiness logo embroidered on the front and print on the back!

OH was over the moon!!

I have to say that I have been a member of this forum for quite a while, but never read this thread. However I do have some successes to share,

1 Getting £840.00 wiped off my gas and electric bill 2 years ago. It took quite a lot of toing and froing but because they had not read the meter for an actual reading for years, they sent me a humongous bill!! Obviously by law they have to do this every so often, so they had to give me a full refund.

2 Free upgrade to super luxury mattress £600.00 (from economy £170.00) from silent night. They pride themselves on 'no roll together' but after 6 months use , by 2 average build people, it was carp. Wrote to head office who sent out a complaint form and issued, their latest mattress to us. Still in use now after 3 years and as good as new.

3. Opened a tin of Heinz soup which had 2 months left on date Cost 50p), it was mouldy, they sent me a jiffy bag and then a £5.00 voucher.

Probably more that I cant think of right now,
HOWEVER I HAVE ONLY EVER COMPLAINED WHEN I HAVE HAD A GENUINE PROBLEM hth Also I have always wrote to the company, I dont know if this has helped.

Just had to share this:
Oats so simple (porridge) i rang them and explain that although i use these regular i have found the last box i purchased didn't thickenen as it normal does i recieved apologises by phone and the following day £5 money of voucher.

London Fruit t-bags - string kept falling of or wasn't attched at all made a nice polite phone call and following day recieved £5 money of voucher

and all this in a week - i was well chuffed

Hi,
I had the same thing happen to me but didnt think to complain.
Just saw it as my fault as the floor must of been damp after mopping.

Do you think I can still make a complaint.
I would have thought I need the packaging as proof?
