What is the best freebie you guys got from this thread?

We've all had varying successes from sending emails/letters out. As a word of advice only complain if the complaint is genuine, the companies use complaints to improve so complaining for a made up issue isn't the best way of getting freebies. Some companies do/did send our vouchers for compliments so take a look through this thread and fire aload off via their company webpage, it might work it might not

Customer services tab at the top of the page, then pick the department that you need.

So far in the last 7ish days i've had major issues with 3 companies, and £94 GWG cash... with some resolution outstanding. £60 (!) from lloyds as we tried to switch to them, went into branch and the phone team had booked me in with someone who didn't work for the company anymore.. so me, my partner and 6 month old son had to wait an hour and a half for a different appointment.
Then Vodafone took money early and failed data protection - so £10 phone calls covered so far (only another £70 to go to cover all of them)... they're getting back to me.
Halifax told me wrong information leading to my account going overdrawn for a day... so fees waived, £15 GWG and £9 for the phone bill.
    Always, always complain!
  • I have had a great deal of success with this - and not just obtaining a small amount in vouchers. I've received a free pair of Crocs shoes and a free Elmo talking toy just as a couple of examples. If I find a fault with something I've bought I send a quick email complaint and most of the time I receive something in return - I've found complaining is definitely worth it. I've also received e.g lots of pens and pencils just for requesting samples from a stationary manufacturer.

where did you get the olive oil bottle from?
  • Update from previous post, after a lot of hassle and emailing vodafone's CEO we got our contract cancelled as we wanted and another £50 goodwill gesture, so totalling £155! In the mood for freebies now!
  • Re: Sophiaa -"Where did you get the free Elmore talking toy from?"

I purchased the toy from Amazon but there was a fault with it (the electronics). I contacted the company to ask for a replacement. As this was the last Elmo in stock I was told that he could not be replaced and that I did not need to return the one I had and I would receive a refund.

A member of my family is able to fix electronics so now as there was no prospect of a replacement Elmo underwent an operation ( we had nothing to lose by opening him up so it was worth a go)!

I did not expect this outcome - I genuinely wanted a replacement as it was bought for my daughter and there was no guarantee that we would be able to fix him. I have been pursuing freebies for a few years now and I've learned that if you have purchased something you are not happy with it is worth taking a minute to rattle off a quick email - sometimes the outcomes are unexpectedly good as above!
