I have recently started writing to companies with my genuine complaints or compliments. I have had mixed results but it is definately worthwhile! Just be honest :-)

Recieved a 10 pounds giftcard for a genuine complaint to a grocery chain.
Recieved lots of samples from a lotion company as a sort of request.
Recieving a gesture of goodwill from a milkshake branch. (I'll see how that goes)

The only customer service I have found rubbish is asda, I put in a genuine complaint and they are quite unhelpful!

I've just sent a genuine complaint to Asda - but I'm not hopeful after reading your post! Fingers crossed...

I wrote to Penhailgon two weeks ago requesting free samples as I have allergies and received 3 samples of their perfume today :j. They are perfume sample sizes but the bottles are worth over £60 each

Wow, kinda puts you off wanting to write any others a letter. Not the best response back. Mean Ryvita!

A while back I was in Sainsburys and didn't take a basket as I only needed three things. I picked up a tub of double cream and began to walk away from the fridge, at which point I felt something wet, and realised that the lid was compromised and that cream was pouring down my cardigan and jeans. Ruined both of them, and left me in the middle of town covered in a cream stain. No staff member apologised or even helped. Several walked past.

I complained to Sainburys, and they simply said sorry. That's all. :(

My husband and I had a beyond awful BA experience at Christmas time (we were one of those people sleeping overnight at Heathrow... but there was much more to it than that) so I wrote a long letter detailing all of our complaints. We received 2 x £150 vouchers for our next flights. Not bad!
