Hi flyer. U use the internet connection sharing wizard, but as previously mentioned host pc needs to be switched on and it needs to be a reasonable speed cos it has to do the switching work as well.0

Forgot to add, personally i'd use a router myself cos by the time u take the electricity costs into account it would be alot cheaper for the router.

Sorry about my earlier post, I'm easily confused.
Have a question to ask. Managed to get a Belkin wireless router for £35 from pc world. I already have an ADSL modem (USB connection). Will I be able to connect my modem directly to my router?

Sorry - missed the questions b4!
Our PC is on most of the time, so I guess if you looked at it like that - a router would be best.
To do it, you use the network wizard in XP - it's pretty easy 2 do.
Does it cost THAT much to leave the PC on compared to leaving the router on? I didn't realise! (The monitor isn't on all the time and it's an LCD one). Interesting thought that!0 -
depnds on the psu for the system, i mean an amd one normally 350-450 watts. I dont know how much they draw on standby, but say every three hours u using a kilowatt and electrickery is 5p per kwh 40p per day or £146 per year. Just looked at my router and its 12v @ 1.25A (which is about 15W)
That works out at 131 kw/h per year or £6.55 per year based on assumption above.
