I want to fire the internet through from my main pc to one in my daughters bedroom. Do I need to go to the expense of buying the router or will two usb's that talk to each other do?

    ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

I did the same. I got Belkin talking to Netgear DG384G router.

Argos had some Belkin wireless USB adapters reduced from £39.99 to £24.99, although most of the stores round my area are out of stock. Got one in one of my kids PCs and it's great (better than the Netgear WG111 I got from the Amazon deal).

Thats the older technology. That might be okay for surfing but if you want files in a hurry then the G is better,
I bought two from ebuyer £14 each, exelent range and very easy to setup.

You really do need to get a router. If you don't it's a complicated setup, high on system resources (due to sharing) and you'll have to leave an extra PC switched on to be the host.

I just got a 3Com from Amazon for £69.99 and it came with a free PCMCIA laptop wireless card worth £34.99.
  • Hi folks, you can still get the OP Netgear Wireless PC Card, Model WG511GE for £9.99 :D.

Just go to the shop ;)

Tried it yesterday, on shelves marked £59.99 :o, took one to checkout for price check and their lovely "new" Eclipse System only wanted me to part with £9.99 BINGO, and no swingeing £6+ postage. ;) ;D

    Thanks Ben
    Regards Scat ;)

Thats exactly what I do with the two usb wifi adabters I got from ebuyer and I also use it downstairs on my laptop too, its exelent for sharing the internet connection, I have a 512 adsl connection and dont even notice any differance when two are using it. I will be getting a 3rd very soon.

Yes but delivery is £6 - bringing it up to £14 which, to be fair, is still a very good price.
The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing:)
  • Thanks for this, just saw it and just picked one up, so are still available. Asked in store staff member went out the back and got one for me.
