  • Hey guys, well I bit the bullet and just rang the OR. He didn't need my reference number or name, he knew it was me..apparently I am the only he has sent a letter out to recently....great.

Anyway, I asked him what the interview was about, and basically, yes, its to go through things re whether or not I get a BRO. Me putting OH on the deeds of the flat 2 1/2 years ago and going through some debts. Which is fine, I don't mind getting a BRO, just wish it hadn't taken this long. He said it had taken this long as he needed to get some info from the Banks and the credit card companies. I thought I had sent him everything he had asked for, past 4 years' Bank Statements and past year of credit card statements, but he obviously wanted more info.

Also told him I had got a job...he said 'good', and that could we change the interview date. He wanted to make it even later as he is off on holiday soon but I asked him if I could go in this week and he said that Thursday at 11am is fine, I am relieved about that, just want it over and done with.

I said I will bring in my letter offering me the job with me, with the salary on it, and we can discuss it then.

I suppose I should really get on with an SoA now, as I didn't need to do one before, I shall post one up in a bit, and if anyone can help, that will be great. I am a bit confused, as OH has always paid for everything and will continue to do so, but my salary of £350 will be added now to the SOA, so don't want to leave that as a surplus as he might take it! So I will do a rough one, and if you can point me in the right direction, that will be great.

Not great news I know, but at least you know what it is for.

When you so you SoA keep it basically the same, add some for your clothing and travel to work, then take whatever is left off of your OH's salary to put down as his contribution, if that makes sense.

Good luck for Thursday, hopefully if you tell him that all this delaying matters is having a bad effect on your health he'll hurry things along one way or the other.

  • I have no idea if this is right. Put down both our salaries, left off what OH pays for, as in his mobile, a loan he has and his train fare to work. He pays for everything, so obviously, we have a surplus as his salary exceeds our outgoings. Is that right??

    Hi Summer,
You don't need to put down his whole salary, just his contribution which will be whatever you need to make your SoA balance with no surplus.
So looking at your figures his contribution should be £1025 - £350 = £675. That leave no surplus.

Oh, thanks for that PP. I will readjust it. Does everything else look ok?

Yes, just take off your internet and sattelite TV they're not allowed on your SoA, but that doesn't mean you can't have them , and round your figures, other than that it all looks good.

    OH's contribution should be £675

  • Hi Summer

I so know how you feel. We went BR in Feb and got called in for F2F interviews in September. Like you I was gutted - felt like it had dragged on and on and I just wanted an end to it.

Unfortunately I worked myself up into an absolutely terrible state beforehand :o but once we got there, it wasn't actually that bad. It was all pretty repetative to be honest - he seemed to go over stuff we'd already told him numerous times  but it WAS to confirm whether he thought we should both get a BRU and we both did. Not to upset you further, but even then it took until December to get the confirmation through regarding the BRUs (they certainly don't rush these things  )

Best of luck to you, I'm sure it will all be fine. No-one ever said this road of BR would be an easy one did they?

    <<hugs>>

Thank you Scarlett, yes I do remember now you having to go through it. I am so glad I got it brought forward to this Thursday though, I have a new job to start in March and I really wanted it out of the way, so I could concentrate on my fresh start, after not working for well over a year.

OH is coming with me, if they give me a BRO, so be it, just hope I get a decision fairly quickly. We want to move forward and have been unable to, so cannot wait for that moment, its been a long journey!

Hope things are well with you. xxx
