MONEY MORAL DILEMMA. Should Kate return a sale frock with a full price receipt?

hi everyone
i work for a great high end, high street brand.
it is usually up to the manager of the store whether you can return an item which has gone into the sale.
some things to think about are:
if you paid on a store card and have insurance you can claim the difference back if you call you card issuer.
are you within the exchange or return limit of your reciept if so, be polite to the shop assistant and you will usually get it, if not you will be able to exchange your item but you will not get the difference back
it is unlikely if you have already worn your item that you would be able to do that.
a good tip is to return it in the evening of 1 day and go back the next morning and re-purchase!
Hope this helps!0 -
Yes I would absolutely return the item, if I hadn't worn it. I have done this in NewLook to get the 20% off with an offer I had. In fact, the store manager advised me to do it, as I had forgotten to bring the 20% voucher with me shopping. I simply kept the clothes folded in the bag and took them back the next day. The trick is to be quick, and not wear the items- thats just grimCreative idiot with a passion for spending

This really depends, I know it's technically fraud but I was going to say YES instantly, as I need the money. But if I was spending £50 on a dress I obviously had a lot of money so I would just be a bit annoyed but not return it.
If it was for less money and I was skint I would have no qualms about returning the new dress for the full price though, I need it more than them and at least I'm not stealing the dress.June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

No she shouldn't get £25 sneakily. This is simply dishonest. I can understand the frustration and disappointment but it's just wrong. She has to accept that that was the events. "sneakily" is often used to attempt to morally justify an action which you know is wrong.
What can you say when you see that others would in fact go for the refund. I simply say that is not what I would do but the fact that others do it in no way justifies it. It is rather disappointing to see that so many would.0 -
This happened to me recently with 2 dresses I had bought for a wedding and goodwood, I asked in the store what the policy was and the girl I spoke to said to bring them back and return them and then re-buy them! which is what I did, saving £55.00.
I had only bought them the week before and they where both unworn with tags still in, Its annoying to see something you have bought at half price a week later so I was very pleased that they took them back.
If I had bought the dresses and worn them and then seen them a week later at half price it would have been too bad, but as they where unworn I think its ok to do.0 -
absolutley
I do this all the time as long as there is no red dot on the label to show it is sale wear. It really bugs me if sale price is only just after i bought - however sometimes i make myself feel better if I cannot take it back by telling myself i have really enjoyed wearing it already!
I have also taken back new unworn items and explained that i felt it unfair that i was charged full price immediately before sale and asked for money back - no shop has ever refused to refund my money and often sales people just say they will run it back through at sale price:dance:                 :dance:I am finally understanding what money can do for me!0 -
Of course it should be returned. But why on earth did they pay full price in the first place. I only shop in the sales or cheap stores. What could 50 quid buy you in the matalan sale!!!grocery challenge 9.86/600

I would only return the item if I hadn't worn it or if it was faulty. She could try the "As a regular customer ................." and hope they would give her a voucher as recompense. I do that in a certain mobile phone outlet where I'm such a regular they call me by my first name!DMP mutual support thread No: 433 - Mortgage - £54,556, Credit cards - £4012, Unsecured loan - £3,376, Other - £419

I did this with a cardigan recently. Purchased it for £20, bought the 2nd in the sale for £10 (size didn't matter) and just took it back the 2nd one, on a hanger with a different size (genuine reason for returning!) with receipt for first cardigan and said the returned item was displayed on the WRONG hanger - no problem.
