  • Hi all, not been on here for a year or so, and a while since I posted, basically got a better job and didn't, need to try as hard. Thing is I hate my job and our lifestyle , we've got in to habit of wasting money on things we don't need and as a result we've nothing to show for all the extra hours and stress!
Now my kids expect things every time were out & to eat out a lot. Going to cut back and get back to me & oldstyle so I can actually start to save some money for the kids future or so I can reduce my long hours next year. I married in my 30' with 2 kids 8 & 5 & 3 cats.
Looking forward to getting back in to it :)

    Hi all,

I'm a SAHM too, to 3 wonderful growing boys. None of them are at school yet (eldest due to start this coming september) so I am kept very busy. I try to do my best running the household on our meagre budget. I see it as a challenge and almost a hobby! lol :o

    Nice to meet everyone.

My latest project - I'm collecting new recipes. I got bored with the old ones and have managed to add 3 new recipes to my repertoire this month. Plan on keeping on going! lol.

  • Hi Pinkparrot and Aimeemum, welcome from me. I had slipped away for a year or so, but it is still the lovely and supportive (as well as informative) place it ever was!

Good luck with the goals, I am sure you can achieve them.

  • Hi I have just started posting back on Jan grocery challenge as a family we do waste a lot of money on food - I seem to buy lots we don't use and the freezer and cupboards and fridge always full
I am enjoying the challenge of making more of meals and not buying as much food and really for me its keeping track of spend that is making the difference. As DH and I have reasonably well paying jobs we just seem to spend a lot and not really count up so I am hoping tracking grocery spend will make a big difference and hopefully help us pay the mortgage off faster or contribute to a new car or holiday - which we haven't planned yet for this year but usually splurge on!
I have 2 kids a boy almost 13 and a girl 9 with a cat from a rescue centre 4 months ago - she is keeping me company as I work at home and travel as necessary
    So thats me!

  • Hi,
I work 30ish hours a week so suppose it's full time? I have no kids live with my BF 2 dogs and 1 cat. Turning 30 this year and would like to actually have savings that last more than a month or 2 so have been lurking around and reading the posts of the forum have given me a bit of kick up the bum. As since me and the BF moved last june we have got lazy over cooking and meal planning. and our shopping bills really show it So i am going to do the grocery challenge and hopefully the money we save can go into a savings account for rainy days and holidays. I love cooking so does my BF so am looking forward to trying out some of the recipes i have seen.

  • Reintroduction from me. I seem to keep doing these, being MSE-OS for a while and then falling off the wagon!

I'm Laura, 41, single with two cats (Sammy and William). I'm very excited to be getting the keys to my first allotment (half-plot) on Saturday. It's going to be a lot of hard work but I'm looking forward to it. I'm a new gardener so shall have to learn on the hoof!

Financially I'm not in debt but neither do I have any savings to speak of. I just about have enough but would like to stop wasting money in carp I don't need so I have money for the things that really mean something to me. I realise I'm prone to recreational shopping and that's what's swallowing too many pennies.

So - here's to living the old style way and being sensible so I have more to spend on things that matter (to me).
