the parkway one is good but not as big as hillsborough and try and go during the week as they seem to not be able to stock the shelf as quickly as they are emptied at the weekend.
  • BOO HOO i wish i had read this earlier, I thought it was shut on Sundays. The issue with Hillsborough is I work until 5.00 and it shuts 5.30!!! :T

Double check, some shops have later closing times between now and Christmas

As I said before the main things I want are kids things with the names/brands - Dora etc as these are where I think I will make the most savings. I can always go v early on Sat morn and go elsewhere/online if it doesn't work out. Thanks so much for the tips!

My boy is a bit too big for Dora etc now but they definitely had a lot of their stuff as I noticed when looking for something for my nephew. Ditto the Disney stuff. I don;t remember there being much top gear stuff as I'd have bought it if they had. They did have a few of the 49p books left on Saturday.

I'll probably be nipping in today so if you'd like me to check on anything let me know
I will be in the Hillsborough area on Saturday at 3pm anyway.....can you guess why....maybe a HB trip will brighten it up for me!:T

Ah bless you - that's normally why I'm in hillsborough around 3pm on a Saturday too. My Dad and my boy both have season tickets and I have to go along to make sure they behave themselves. It's been grim so far! I have this weekend off though as we're off down to London to visit Father Christmas. Yay (and double Yay for not having to sit in the cold watching that shower!)[/QUOTE]

I prefer the Hillsborough store too but I'm not overly impressed with HB this year, that's any of their stores. It could just be me and they don't have the things that my kids are into this year but I usually get loads of stuff, some great bargains but this year I've hardly bought anything.

Could it have something to do with Woolies going bust? I was thinking they maybe got their stock from Woolies end of season stock or something?

Still a few more shopping trips to make, hopefully will bag a few more bargains for Christmas, even though I keep telling myself that I'm finished now!!! lol

LegalBlonde - HB is fantastic and you will find loads of the branded bargains in there that you are looking for. Just wanted to let you know though that I picked up Dora and Thomas the Tank Engine torches at Tesco this morning for £2.29 including batteries!:D

My DS has the Thomas torch and it has been really good quality and long lasting. Great stocking fillers/extra present for LOs I think and at that price, cheaper than a decent selection box.

Also Buzz Lightyear (Toy Story) and Stig (Top Gear) bubble bath in really big 3D moveable toys for £4.00. Ok - thread hijack over!

every year HB gets a bit lack lustre
in the run up to Christmas, but I think that
is because there are so may items leaving
the shelves at break neck speed in the
run up to christmas, some of our best
bargains have come about in the last
    7 to 10 days before christmas,by then
    lots have what they need.

I am sure HB do a lot of last minute buying
just before the holiday so suddenly there is more
must have things that were simply not there
earlier.I think this is also true of the other
shops as well £ shops,99p shops etc.

Some of our best buys in the past have been bought
in the final week as I am sure there must be companys
eager to off load stock that is not going to sell in the
normal way and what better time to off load any
    way you can
