Sorry my word wasnt good enough (never is on forums, once upon a time a persons word was good enough now it's source? link? proof?) or am I just a big fat liar and trying to stop people buying brilliant safe toys?
No I remember it too, it was a programme on Channel 4, i think it was dispatches about whether poundshops are worth it compared to supermarkets and how they use smaller packaging so you're not always paying less compared to a supermarket. In some cases a lot of stuff worked out to be cheaper, the pound shops would provide say a 4 pack of something, compared to a 6 pack in a supermarket, then add 50% extra free so you thought you were getting a bargain but you weren't. Something like that anyway.
EDIT- By the time i'd finished writing my post cornucopia had beat me to it!:j:j:j0 -
Well, my main grouch was I had actually spent £8-£10 on those dangerous toys for my then 2-3 yr old cos she loved them.
And because I didnt have receipts Trading standards wouldnt do anything and Poundland basically can go on selling dangerous toys.1,2 & 5p: Christmas day food £9.31
10 & 20p: misc savings £2.70
50p: Christmas presents £3.50

Ok so its not strictly Poundland, but I recently bought a comfort bra from Poundworld...yes for £1. The support isn't perfect, but its ideal to wear at home.0

Dave Gorman vs The Rest of The World (cover is different; £land has a large format paperback) £5.99 Am@zon,4.2 star average.
I want one!!
Gawd. Now I have a reason to brave the new Ikea like guidance system to get to the bloody books. (except at least Ikea do have escape routes). Poundland do seem to have a knack of getting these little gems in don't they. Not sure what Dave Gorman's reaction would be to being sold in Poundland but he did do voiceovers for Homebase so obviously doesn't really have any scruples. Have seen a couple of Danny Wallace books in Poundland in the past too. (DW was Dave Gorman's sidekick in their early days if you didn't know).
Thanks for posting that.

I bought the Crieghton face wash in Dalston today and I thought it felt really nice so thanks for the previous mention.
Also got a Trevor Sorbie shine spray - they have one for blondes and one for brunettes.
And another couple of Terry's Chocolate Oranges - one for me and one for the girlie when she gets back from holiday -if it lasts that long! Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.

As I recall tho they didn't self destruct, unless your child regularly plays with her toys infront of a naked flamed fire, or has perhaps taken up smoking I don't think they would have killed her.
had they been properly recalled THAN you would have been entitled to a refund receipt or not, IIRC trading standards did not think it warrented a recall.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

How do you know children arent playing with them in those circumstances?
Point is they should have been safety tested and they wern't, they are also very thin compared to similar toys sold elsewhere, I always felt they could easily burst open (you throw them on the floor to light them up).
You might be happy to let your toddler play with toys deemed unsafe but I'm certainly not. I guess to some that makes me a neoritic mother and somehow in the wrong hey ho!
There is a reason why laws now insist on things being fire retardant. The fact that Poundland chose to ignore this says alot.
She also had one of the plastic and sealed egg person doll things and the arms came off that making it an instant choking hazard. If buying from Pound shops for toys you have to be so aware that alot of it is dangerous crap that could also be made from banned toxic substances. Just be aware is all I am saying.1,2 & 5p: Christmas day food £9.31
