Can I just say that the staff in the Poundland that I use most regularly (Darlington) are absolutely fantastic.
I'm disabled and their attitude is spot - on, attentive, but never patronising and always helpful.
I wonder if that's because this is an area of high unemployment and HR had a higher calibre of staff to choose from when recruiting? (Or is it that people in the North East are just nicer, full stop?)

New limited edition kit kat chunky 3 packs - coconut, chocolate fudge, mint or hazelnut today, most shops selling them for 59p each
Tesco are doing 4 packs of the original Kitkat Chunky for £1 atm if you're not bothered about the new flavours.
I did ring up the customer service number on the receipt to complain. I tried a few times, but apparently they were too busy to take my call and it asked me to leave my name and number. I did this in the end, with a brief summary of what happened, but no one has called me back yet, I am not really hopeful that they will, but feel better for saying my piece.
Save yourself the bother and direct them to this thread. It says a lot about the mentality of the store that you were treated so poorly :grouphug:

  • Had the worst customer service experience of my life at Poundland recently. Tried to take something back, because when I got it home the wrong product was in the packet. Was accused of shoplifting by a member of till staff, then accused of lying about the product being not as the packaging stated, then she shouted and pointed and me, before she refused to serve me and started ringing her bell for assistance. I had to wait for about 10 other people to be served, before someone else came over. Took no less than 5 members of staff to sort this very simple problem out. I was so shocked by the whole thing, I actually went home and cried and felt pretty pathetic about having to do so.

That's horrible. I would definitely complain.
Thanks for your support everyone, I am actually very relieved to hear I am not the only person who has had problems there. I am quite a regular shopper there, so I had been wondering what was so different about that day to the other times I had been in. I feel more able to stop wondering now.

Is there an email address on their website that you can use? I often find it easier to write these things than talk on the phone to a person. They are on Twitter aswell (just in case you're on there).
  • In Bromley they have Pizza Express items (passata, sauces etc) and La Tasca sauces and dips too

Today I got the wool I was looking for earlier in this thread so if anyone else is looking for it apparently they are still getting stock in. Wool is on a 3 for 2 offer!

I also got Dettol disinfectant, I think it was 500ml which is currently £3 in Asda! :money: :j

Cherish those you have in your life because you never know when they won't be there anymore.

  • I have had awful customer service at Poundland too, specifically the Southport store where the men in their 20s appear to think its beyond them to even look at you when you check out, never mind smile/talk/be nice. Two doors down at the 99p store the staff are absolutely lovely and are always smiling when you check out ... you can imagine which store I now go to and which I avoid!

Fifa 10 PS3 in my local poundland (irvine, scotland) might be in others too, might be 3 years old but this game used to be £40odd and would be great, even if it's just for the younger kids!

Picked up some lovely make up bargains this week:
Rimmel 1000 kisses lip stain (rrp 5.99)
Revlon Just Bitten lip stain was also instock
Sleek lipstick (usually £4.29 in superdrug)
Also spotted in the 99p Store today they had tons of Veet in shower hair removal cream+sponge sets. I looked it up on my phone some of them sell for £6+ in wilkinsons! (I know there's a separate thread for the 99p store but it's pretty dead)

Definitely agree that staff are very helpful and polite at my local 99p stores in Derby:) Maybe we should show support and have a 99p store bargain thread!
