Just check the date if for Christmas gifts as I bought a box (for research purposes;)) and the best before is 02/12/2011. Good price for them if you want to eat asap.

They also had Rimmel eyeshadows 3 different colours in a pack for a pound and Rimmel liquid eyeliners in packs of two different colours.

Also the fair isle style hats with ear flaps looked pretty good. Cotton as opposed to acrylic.
A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.

Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.

    one life, live it!

Poundland Metrocentre has a shelf full of the whole series books for boys etc. (the old fashioned styled ones) I got 6 different ones and they have a paper £10.00 bookstore price tag on the back. I know these are still pretty popular and was chuffed to bits. I'd really recommend these for gifts to anyone.

The post about Poundland and SOGA is more or less spot on, they do flaunt it quite badly.
"You have 28 days to return a product for a refund" is contrary to the law. An item has to be durable, if you buy a knife there, you expect it still to be working after moderate use after 2 months. If it snaps (Poundland ones often do), of course they have to refund it after 28 days. They can try saying 'but you have accepted it by not complaining earlier', how are you supposed to test durability within 28 days? Run a destructive test in your kitchen workshop?
The 'phone customer service' stuff is nonsense, I hope you told them where to go. Go to shop, hopefully with receipt, demand refund. They should cave in. Start talking about Consumer rights, phoning Trading Standards, ask for names etc.
What they are doing is wrong, from a business point of view. A lot of the stuff they sell is 'sh*t' (to quote one of their managers in a similar situation I was in, they should accept every single return, within 3 years, without question. If they don't like that, stop selling sh*t. A lot of their stuff is VERY good value. But a few items are just plain rubbish. They often put broken returns back on shelves where I visit.
You say "You get what you pay for" and "but the Law's the Law". Actually "You get what you pay for" IS the law in some respects, you'd be harder pushed to demand a refund via the courts if you paid £1 versus £15.
But your major bargaining chip is to threaten them with court action/Trading Standards, they would never like exposure over something like this. Look at their solar lights. Good value, but a VERY high proportion of them are sold ACTUALLY FAULTY.

I don't agree with the immigrant stuff though by the way. They do employ a lot of immigrants, wouldn't be surprised if many of them turned out to be more switched on and hard working than natives. Plenty of home grown native brits work there, some are good, some are bad. Overall, Poundland staff pretty good, some just need better education in Consumer Rights.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Poundland have boxes of mini oreos - 6 snack packs in the box just the same as normal but have orange coloured filling for Halloween, best thing is there's a 40p off next purchase MOC on the back of the box!! don't know if you can use them in poundland, i've never tried, but I thought it was a good find!:j
  • They have BUY 5 get one free on Halloween items where I shop, which are amazing value if you look at some of the stuff, a fraction of the prices elsewhere.
  • I got some synthetic nails the other day (mostly for a halloween outfit) but I was really impressed by the quality! To get this done properly would be about £30 - so a massive saving of £29!! And if one falls off? Well it's less than 10p to replace it - bargain :)

You don't need to be rich to be glam ;)
