lmao, my diary reads funny now someone appears to have deleted all their posts.
Anyhow on a more positive note...cough cough. I have decided to be really strict with the WWII ration thing. This way hopefully I will have more NSD's and hopefully have some shopping budget left over, which can go towards either the O/D or the kittens jabs. They are due next week but are going to have to wait till end of month. For beginning of week I am going to try making the Bacon Turnovers, Stuffed Marrow, Potatoe Pasties, Toad in hole, Lancaster Hot pot, Vegetable soup (all from Victory cookbook) plus Lasagne and Pizza
Shopping list of required items then is as follows
14oz Sausages
Tomatoe Paste
2oz Porriage Oats
Golden Syrup
5lb potatoes
6 Carrots
Mixrd herbs
Parsley (mine isn't established enough yet)
3 1/2 onions (got 1 1/2 in) (still need two)
8oz Mince (already got)
3 1/2 oz Lard (already in)
4oz Bacon (already in)
1 Marrow (got in)
4oz Breadcrumbs (need to make these)
Worcester Sauce (got in)
12 oz flour (got in)
1 1/2 oz dripping (got in)
Mixed veg (got in)
1 Egg (have in)
1/4pt milk (have in)
6oz Pasta sheets (have in)
Pasta Sauce (have in)
White sauce (have in)
4oz Cheese (have in)
Peas (have in)
Easy Blend Dried yeast (have in)
1/2 teaspoon Caster Sugar (have in)
1 tablespoon Olive Oil (have in)
1oz Margarine (have in)
1/2 Swede (have in)
1/2pt Vegetable Stock (have in)
Plus cat food, so shopping shouldn't be too expensive this week. Plus enough 'rations' left to make some treats once I get more Golden syrup in.19th March 2007 LBM£5,969.63 1st January 2018 £5960.18, 1st January 2019 £11,032.0018th August 2023 £12,435.00, Student Loan £22244.00 From 2009-12Challenges: To learn to stop spending..0 -

Still need the potatoes and found 12oz of sausage in the freezer. Will try to get away with being 1oz short in the two recipes that required sausage. Erm, £1.90 left to try and get 5lb of Potatoes.

Hi. Just noticed your diary and thought I would pop in and say hi.
I am sure the food bill will go down when you have stocked up on all the different one offs like herbs etc and if you buy things in bulk/when they are on offer I am sure that will help as well.
Do you not have any rent or mortgage to pay - if so congratulations. That's fab.
Oh and it looks like your catalogue should be paid off this month - looks like you are definitely heading in the right direction.
Just a couple of things that occurres to me - apologies if you have already done these:
have you been over to OldStyle to get the food bill down a little? am sure you could cut it a little. (Unless that includes the pet food as well?)
also do you really need sky? can you downgrade it at all/cancel/get freeview as this would all help a little
Apart from that I guess it is over to Up Your Income and seeing if you can get presents with vouchers etc.
Good Luck with it all

Spent yesterday baking, we have cheese straws, jam and lemon curd tarts and some (lots) Melted Moment biscuits. Very little margarine left from rations, but still have 200g of butter. Need to get some bread made for next couple of days.
Hopefully next week's shopping wont be as much as this weeks was.19th March 2007 LBM£5,969.63 1st January 2018 £5960.18, 1st January 2019 £11,032.0018th August 2023 £12,435.00, Student Loan £22244.00 From 2009-12Challenges: To learn to stop spending..0 -
Hi dancing.
I am in a contract till December with sky, then I am cancelling it. When I got it it be because it worked out cheaper with the 'cash back' to get sky for a year than to have an aerial installed at my old property.
I am on IS so get full rent and council tax benefit.
Its from the Old Style board that I first started contemplating the WWII 'rations', just with a more up to date menu.
Your right it is the one offs like the herbs and stuff that costs.
Luckily I have been buying most of my gifts over the past year, so its only the kids main gifts I need to worry about in december. and I have 31 Nescafe Beans collected so far...lol.19th March 2007 LBM£5,969.63 1st January 2018 £5960.18, 1st January 2019 £11,032.0018th August 2023 £12,435.00, Student Loan £22244.00 From 2009-12Challenges: To learn to stop spending..0 -
I thought I'd seen you around before somewhere. Brain asleep today - see so many people on here it's hard to keep up sometimes. Lol. Any sounds like you are well on track then. At least you don't have rent on top to worry about. Am definitely finding my food bill going down as I stock up on various bits and pieces although I am sure I could do a lot better but it is going in the right direction.
The rationing challenge sounds good.
Good Luck

Went to allotment this morning, tried making a netted clotch to help protect my plants. Picked enough raspberries and blackberries to make a crumble this evening, which we had after the homemade pizza's. Also brought home a load of fresh mint and two radishes that have started to be attacted as they had pushed there way above ground.
Think I will do the toad in hole tomorrow for kids tea. With luck wont need any more milk till Monday as kids are at their dad's this weekend.19th March 2007 LBM£5,969.63 1st January 2018 £5960.18, 1st January 2019 £11,032.0018th August 2023 £12,435.00, Student Loan £22244.00 From 2009-12Challenges: To learn to stop spending..0 -
Just checked my electric and gas readings and my electric is averaging out at around 8units a day over the last 3 1/2 days. Yet during the holidays it worked out at around 7units a day. This is strange. maybe I need a full weeks worth to be able to know for sure.
My Gas works out at 2 units a day.
Todays readings are
