no but tell us more!:D0 -
I bought steak sausages from Morrisons a few weeks back. I took them straight home and put them in the bottom of the fridge (which is cooler than the rest of the fridge at 1C). I went to use them and it was still the day before the best before date. The sausages are quite dark anyway but I thought they were looking slightly purple. There was something on the sausages and I thought they were maybe ice crystals because they'd been in the coldest part of the fridge. But when I tried to wipe it off it was fuzz, not ice - like the start of mould growing.0

yuk did you take them back?:D
when i took back my potatos today(my god did they smell bad) the manager would not give me a refund only an exchange:mad: or i would have got tatos somewhere else!:D0 -
Ashamed to say I didn't.
I asked my dh if he thought they were off. He was trying to convince me it was ice. It definitely wasn't! Then I took a whiff of them and they didn't smell like usual so I binned them.0 -
I only buy frozen veg from morrisons because their so called fresh veg is rubbish. I just got sick of having to rout through courgettes, potatoes ect for some fresh looking ones.0

The nearest Morrisons (use to be a very good safeway ) to me sells decent stuff so I was always wondering what my friends' and family where complaining about.
I then had the displeasure of going into two their Morrisons and only finding rotten fruit and veg. I didn't bother looking at the meat. One of the stores produce was so bad that when a new much much smaller sainsbury's local opened, the Morrisons closed down within 3 months.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0 -

mind you i did chuckle today when the manager at morrisons actually sniffed my off potatoes, they stunk the whole of the customer services out(as well as my car!) why did she feel the need to sniff them?:rotfl:
and she asked me if i wanted to sniff the new pack i got:rolleyes:0 -
Drinkupretty I always lift off the top tray of vegetables and go for the new unwrapped ones underneath.I even get all the other shoppers doing the same because they are often fresher than the stale lot that has been exposed to the air for days on end.I will get thrown out one of these days for bad behaviour but I don't care.Because we grow a lot of our own fruit and veggies we know what condition we want them to be in.{One reason why the bunnies on our plots enjoy the taste as well}
We have picked carrots that I have said to Mr Kandy look like they have been frozen because there are dark patches on them and these are suppossed to be fresh.Sure enough within a couple of days these carrots that we have kept in the fridge have started to go rotten in the places where the patches were...eeek
We have tried the farm shops but have found that we are having to do a 30 mile round trip just to buy the stuff we cannot grow,and with the petrol prices as they have been it works put far too expensive.
I would like meet the person who buys all this stuff because I think they need a new set of glasses......0 -
A lot of it could also be the way it is transported. Most stores use split compartment fridge trailers to deliver to the shops. At the front is normally the frozen area set at -28 then a bulkhead and then the fridge stuff is there at about 4 degrees, quite often in hot weather the veg is also put in this compartment so when it then goes out onto the shop floor it ends up with condensation in the packets - which promotes a short shelf life!!!0

I have been doing this with the potatoes, its still difficult to find nice looking ones though. Alot of the other veg is on counter display so you have the choice of what is out. It is also pot luck as to whether they have what I'm looking for. I like their 2 in one pack of mange tout and baby sweetcorn (good for stir frys) but more often than not they don't have it on display when I ask if they have any out back the staff members usually just shrug and wander off.
Unfortunatly I don't have alot of choice where to shop as I do not drive, so cant go miles to ASDA on the 2 buses I would have to get with lots of heavy shopping to carry, considering I have to walk half way accross town to catch the connecting bus.0
