morrisons fresh food going off

Hi all, i have noticed over the last couple of weeks whilst doing my shopping that food items at Morrison's are going off very quick.

Today i took back potatoes that were not out of date but mouldy and smelly (only bought 2 days ago) customer services told me that there had been an issue with their potato's sweating, i swapped the bag for another but when i got them home they too were all wet inside:confused: almost like they had been washed down with a hosepipe.

Whilst shopping last week i had to tell a manager that packs of tomatoes were full of water and the worst Ive seen is fresh chickens(free range of course) starting to freeze on the outside.

when this was pointed out to a worker there he said yes we have had a problem with this freezer, but put more chickens in there!

i am disgusted with the quality of their fresh food, and will not be buying it in the future. plus there is no email address for me to complain so will have to send letter.

please tell me your experiences with Morrison's:D

Haven't got any experiences myself as I've never shopped there but funnily enough was having a conversation with a friend last night and she says she never buys meat there as it always goes off before its sell by date.

I shop there but am quite "selective" in what i buy.

Some of the veg is refrigerated within an inch of it`s life and when it`s in a warmer temperature ie on the shelves it starts to sweat in packaging.

I only buy unpackaged stuff where possible and the rest i get from Asda instead. If i do have to buy something thats plastic wrapped i inspect it thoroughly first.
I don`t think that their veg is too good but i suspect that it`s how they store it.

Why complain if you don't intend to buy there in future? Surely a motive for complaining is it's convenient for you to buy there but you want better quality.

Why complain which is taking time out of your life for something that will no longer effect you? It seems to be putting effort into something which will have no impact for you in the future.

hi if you read my post you would note that i said i would not be buying the fresh food there anymore, not that i would not be shopping at Morrison's:D

as for complaining i think people should complain about things if they are not right, in the hope that Morrison's will make a change that will help EVERY customer that shops there:D

my complaint will be about the quality of their fresh produce, although it is convenient for me to shop there, i don't think this should make a difference to the quality of their produce:D

as for having no impact on me in the future so I'm wasting my time complaining, i don't look at it that way, Morrison's are one of the cheaper stores, but if me and others are throwing away food only days after buying it because of its poor quality or poor storage that is just a waste of our money:D

    Thanks for your comment though:D

I use those stayfresh longer bags from Lakeland, but yesterday I discovered that my Morrisons tomatoes stored in them had gone mouldy after only a few days...other stores, the tomatoes last two weeks if necessary. I thought it must have been aduff bag, but now I am starting to wonder. The potatoes I have bought there have been horrendous, but I only buy two baking potatoes a week so not worth making a fuss about. However they do seem to sprout very quickly, despite keeping them in a tattie sack at home.

I don't blame you for complaining. If enough people did this then these supermarkets might eventually get the message that folk who work hard enough for their money as it is won't put up with shoddy goods be it food clothes etc.

If you can try to buy your potato's loose and buy only those in a reasonable condition, ie no holes or gouges out of them.

We grow our own on our allotment plots but on the odd occassions that we have bought spuds in bags because the loose ones look rubbish we have found that when they are in those see through plastic bags, that are then put into the warm conditions of the supermarkets and corner shops they soon start sweating and then go musty or foul smelling.

Also when spuds are in clear plastic bags and exposed to the light they will start to go green which makes them poisonous if eaten in very large quantities...

:D thanks kandyfloss, i never used to complain, felt embarrassed to,:o but your right these supermarkets are taking our hard earned cash, making alot of profit and now i feel we need to complain, however petty it may seem to others

I've found that Morrisons are far from being cheap and their shops are dirty and full of chavs, may just be the couple I've been to but I'm not shopping there again (and no I didn't complain :p)
