and which is the best shampoo?

I grew up with a dog (a retriever) and he only got bathed in the summer!! Ive heard once a month is "normal" though?
Tend to bath our little dog roughly every 6/8 weeks depending on how filthy he gets. He loves to roll in ANYTHING and just loves mud and puddles. Don't have a particular favourite dog shampoo but tend to use Bob Martins. He's not overkeen on bathtime but he does like the hairdryer which is really surprising because he's such a little wimp and frightened of most things including bubble wrap.
  • My mini schnuazer hates having a bath so I only bathe her about once a month. For some bizarre reason she is really scared of water and never goes swimming or in any big puddles!

However she does love to eat snails and her beard gets pretty mucky so I spray that with a detangling spray every so often.

I used to take her to the doggy parlour for a hair cut but now do it myself - although it is pretty badly done everyone always comments on how cute she looks with shaggy hair and it helps in my new money saving habits!

I use to have a girl come in to give my boy a haircut and it use to cost me about £14.00 which wasn't too expensive but now he's getting old & stroppy at times, I bought some pet clippers and do it myself. He's fine while I'm doing the body but then starts to get restless and I have to do the rest of his body in stages. He's now had a No.1 all over except for his head and it does look a bit odd but plan to tackle his face with the scissors tonight. I too prefer the shaggy look but need it short when it's hot. Think your girl is a real little beauty and bet she's spoilt rotten.

My two just love rolling in horse poo, fox, poo, human poo. dead birds....... the more it smells the more they love it . So I sometimes end up bathing them 2 or 3 times a week. It doesn't wipe off as they are both very fluffy. So I use a warm shower spray on them and dilute the shampoo in a jug. At the moment I have pets at home own brand shampoo but when that's gone I shall switch to baby shampoo, the vet said this is fine .

Beryl the Peril loves being bathed and will push herself under the shower spray when I'm still waiting for the temperature adjust. Dennis the Menace hates it and squeezes himself down at the far end of the bath trying to escape . I keep telling him he wouldn't have to be bathed if he didn't roll but somehow he just forgets !!!

Dennis goes to be groomed and have haircut every six weeks otherwise he resembes a walking haystack. Beryl can manage 12 weeks before she looks like a sheep so she just accompanies him on alternate visits.
