I grew up with a dog (a retriever) and he only got bathed in the summer!! Ive heard once a month is "normal" though?0 -
My mini schnuazer hates having a bath so I only bathe her about once a month. For some bizarre reason she is really scared of water and never goes swimming or in any big puddles!
However she does love to eat snails and her beard gets pretty mucky so I spray that with a detangling spray every so often.
I used to take her to the doggy parlour for a hair cut but now do it myself - although it is pretty badly done everyone always comments on how cute she looks with shaggy hair and it helps in my new money saving habits!0 -

My cat has a wash, cut & blow dry at the groomers every three months & the odd bath in between.
But DH & DD reckon I need to up the wash, cut & blow dry to every two months.
Hes a persian.
EDITED, I use baby shampoo at home, kinder to the eyes.
Here he is at home, having an inbetween bath:rotfl:

My two just love rolling in horse poo, fox, poo, human poo. dead birds....... the more it smells the more they love it . So I sometimes end up bathing them 2 or 3 times a week. It doesn't wipe off as they are both very fluffy. So I use a warm shower spray on them and dilute the shampoo in a jug. At the moment I have pets at home own brand shampoo but when that's gone I shall switch to baby shampoo, the vet said this is fine .
Beryl the Peril loves being bathed and will push herself under the shower spray when I'm still waiting for the temperature adjust. Dennis the Menace hates it and squeezes himself down at the far end of the bath trying to escape . I keep telling him he wouldn't have to be bathed if he didn't roll but somehow he just forgets !!!
Dennis goes to be groomed and have haircut every six weeks otherwise he resembes a walking haystack. Beryl can manage 12 weeks before she looks like a sheep so she just accompanies him on alternate visits.
