how often do you bath your dog?

I have a black lab who loves swimming and rolling in muddy puddles (I let her get on with it as I think it is natural for a dog and that its all part of the fun of our walks) so often gets hosed down when we get home. She also adores fox poo and lately is managing to roll in it on a weekly basis so is getting bathed as and when. Our vet said that it is fine to wash with water every day if needed and that puppy shampoo (ours is from pets at home and has a baby powder scent - delicious!) is fine once a week if needed but should only really be needed once a month or so. When she hasnt rolled in something she only gets a bath every 1 or 2 months when she smells like she needs one! If you want to resist frequent bathing then i would suggest a freshening spray - ours is from pets at home and again smells of baby powder. This does a great job of neutralising that wet dog smell etc and is perfect for inbetween baths. Hope that helps xxx0

My greyhounds have had 2 baths in the last year, using a puppy shampoo. We don't let them offlead except in the garden so don't have to worry about them not rolling in foul things. The dogs tend to clean themselve like cats and I don't think they really get much of a doggy odour.0

my dogs only get a bath a few times a year, depends if they've rolled in anything the hospipe won't get out. The german shepherd has a very thick coat, so as often as he's brushed, the occasional bath refreshes his undercoat for him0

Our dog smells more when he is washed - he just smells of wet dog, as it is difficult to dry him. (too butch for the hairdryer;))
We have had him since October last year and have washed him 3 times - once in the bath and twice with the hose. Never, ever using the bath again - took ages to clean up after him and too much effort lifting his enourmous body in to the bath tub (took 3 of us!)0 -
I have a Lhasa Apso and she gets a bath and a trim every two months or so. Wash her face or the other end in the sink when required
I use a puppy shampoo as seems to be a bid kinder to her. As soon as she sees the clippers/towel/brush etc coming out the cupboard she knows what about to happen and hides :rotfl:0 -
Our two shih-tzu's get groomed every 8 weeks with their fur kept short.
We bathed our girl one this evening cos she's in season and been playing in a friends garden with her lab, who is a male, who has been squirting on her. Ugh...0 -
Mine gets her muddy bits hosed every time she goes mud wallowing- which is most days! Full bath- rarely, but she does get brushed lots and this keeps her coat nice0
