Our Dog has died now sadly, (Lab) but when he was younger he seemed to be able to sense bathtime and became impossible to catch.

strange how an animal that loved to wallow in anything wet and stinky, would dodge a bath.

We used to only baff him when he got TOO stinky.( about twice a year)
his coat used to be fairly self cleaning usually.

My cat has a wash, cut & blow dry at the groomers every three months & the odd bath in between.
But DH & DD reckon I need to up the wash, cut & blow dry to every two months.
    Hes a persian.

EDITED, I use baby shampoo at home, kinder to the eyes.

Never "bathed" my Springer, but if he's really filthy, he'll get washed down with the hosepipe. They generally clean themselves up.

Every few weeks, unless she has got mucky, then just bath her more often. She does get bathed more in Winter when the weather is bad.
    She's a cocker Spaniel.

  • usually every 3-4 months before her haircut, unless she's been to the farm! - if her undercoat has got a bit mucky it gets brushed out when she's dry - another springer here!

Yes, my dog loves to roll in whatever smelly thing she finds in the fields, it's very disgusting sometimes. She knows when she smells bad and goes straight into the bathroom when she gets home :rotfl:
I use Pets At Home's own, put it into a jug and top up with warm water and spread it all around. It's easier than putting a blob in your hand and trying to get it everywhere.

or dead fish - (I fail to see the attraction myself.)

If she's rolled in something disgusting and I can get away with only washing the mucky bit, I do that rather than the full bath. (If she comes back from my dad's looking a bit grey, I know he's been sprinkling her with talc, for the same reason.)
I usually bath her only when I have to and she's particularly festering, usually 3 or 4 times a year - it's too much hassle to do more often.
I do use dog shampoo, although I know some people use baby shampoo. At the moment it's Shaws tea tree shampoo, which doesn't seem to cause the dandruff problems that some of the stronger shampoos do.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
