What a fortunate wee boy, to have such a thoughtful mum. Glad he loved and appreciated the presents you chose for him.
Hope the rest of the day runs smoothly.I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.0 -
Well the party went really smoothly, and ds has just finished opening the present mountain from it
He has had some lovely presents today, and he is really grateful for them which is lovely
Mum and Dad have just gone home (dad wasnt feeling well), so its just me and ds, and I said we can do whatever he wants to do, and he's chosen to play with new toys for the afternoon
so mummy is going to relax a bit too and catch up with her laptop and a cup of coffee

Sounds like he had a wonderful day. That was so nice of the train company to do that.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
Ds is in bed, although not asleep yet, he's absolutely exhausted and quite grumpy because of it
I'm vegged on the sofa, with a coffee, absolutely shattered but happy
The lounge looks like a bomb has dropped, the kitchen isn't too bad, ds room is still immaculate as no presents have made it that far yet, the bathroom is fine and my room is pretty yucky
Now that his birthday is done I can already feel myself starting to get the itch back to crack on with moneymaking :j I'm dead pleased because I was starting to get a bit freaked out as it seemed to have disappeared recently.
So, this week ... tomorrow we're visiting friends in the morning and then maybe a walk in the forest in the afternoon and a pub quiz tomorrow night (ds sleepover at my mums), tuesday I'm going with best mate for her annual checkup at the hospital (she had brain surgery last year), wednesday I have my hospital appointment for my finger, and saturday its my birthdayHopefully there will be some time in there somewhere for a spot of moneymaking too

Hi BenBen, from another single parent who gives her child presents that are either cheap as chips or freebies from vouchers, I salute you! I was really pleased that you and others agree that it's not the monetary cost of the presents that is important but the joy they're going to give to the recipient. DS had a wonderful birthday, that's what counts
I've already got 99% of DD's Christmas presents and stocking fillers, all from the sales/sending off for freebies from newspapers. Am holding myself back on the final 1% in case when she starts school she says she'd like X or Y to be like other friends....luckily she still loathes adverts, so I don't have pester power yet.0 -

ME:j!!! Bet you are shattered too.
Don't you think with the buying pressies cheaply, freebies etc you put a lot more thought into what the recipient wants? maybe that's just me but previously I was happy enough to throw lots away on something that they would probably like but now I get cheaper stuff but only things they would really love... maybe it's just a lifestyle change:o.Mortgage OP 2025 £6200/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000
