If they introduce teenage strops and jumping from hall to bed because you can't touch the floor due to "stuff" as olympic sports, then I have bred two true champions

Lucielle's Daring Debt Free Journey

hi lucielle - hope you had a good holiday. Things are indeed ticking along here - have managed to keep within my budgets this month and have not received a bank charge for the first time in aaaages :j
Amounts outstanding are gradually shrinking and more squares are being coloured in!
Challenges continue, and I feel in some way as though I am in control of the hard slog rather than the hard slog being in control of me.......if only I could say the same of the housework, although I even tidied my bedroom last night - I can actually walk around my bed without endangering life
One thing I did start to think about ( ) today though, was that should we be heading to a 90s style recession, would we be able to manage should one of us lose our job......and the answer was a very obvious "NO". So, although this recession and probably the next one too is likely to be long gone before we are debt free.....this HAS to be the ultimate aim - to be able to manage day to day on one income if need be. OH was made redundant 3 times in as many years in the early 90s and we were able to manage on my sole wage then because we had no other debt than the mortgage, but should the same happen again, we would be in a pickle.
As I say, for us, we are unlikely to be in a position to be at that "safe" point at any time soon, but certainly makes me think that perhaps we should concentrate a bit on getting a couple of months' "salary" in an emergency account to cover us should the worst happen.
See.......I am trying to be sensible :rotfl:
(apart from skiing, obviously:rolleyes: )

I remember when our three were all at senior school how expensive life was.
As they've left school there is a stopping of the constant draining away of funds. We've just been left with the debtand occasional requests for funds. And it was all pretty sudden.
I think what I'm trying to say is that it gets better financially.
Especially if they hang around and pay rent0 -
Yes, I suppose you are right! I am hoping that my two will go and work in the Alps when they finish education.......so I can get my own back and sponge off them for free skiingSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground.
