I really wouldn't worry, chances are your kittens are still pretty young and maybe not ready for solids, by the sound of the person you got them off of i doubt he would of kept them until they were ready to leave their mother. Just take them to the vets, explain and have them check over for everything.
We got one of our old kittens before she was onto solids and i can still remember standing by the kettle, yawning and making up kitten formula to the demands of one very parched kitty.
Keep us updated!0 -

I had two little ones the first time I rescued & they used to climb up my floor-length dressing gown with their needle sharp claws, ouch! then sit perched one on each shoulder squeaking till their bottle was ready0 -
I agree with everyone it does sound like they havent been weaned, having just weaned 5 kittens I have found the best way to start was to make up some ready break with kitten milk just slightly warmed or try some wheatabix mashed up in some slightly warm kitten milk, my vet was also good to me and gave me a sample of dry cat food to wean them with, the bag was big enough to feed them for a week !. They will progress quickly to chicken, fish etc, but try the ready break, never known it not work.l HTH0

one of ours was a tiny scrap & wasn't too keen on the meaty food, so we gave him kitty milk mixed with cereal to get him used to the thicker texture first & he's never looked back
in fact he's 8 now & his present owners took him to the vet worried about him, he was all swollen up & they feared the worst
the diagnosis came back ... greedy & fat0 -
People still drown kittens??? Rotten excuse for a human being ... why not just get the cat neutered in the first place? :mad:0

Apparently it is acceptable in the country he is from! I'm just glad we got the kittens away from where they were!
We have tried them on some kitten pate from tesco this evening and they have eaten a little bit of itI think it was the chunks they didn't like in the whiskas kitten food; the pate is much smoother and that seems to suit them a bit better. The two of them are racing around the front room and play fighting so I think they are ok! Thank you for all the replies
you've all been a great help - it's years since I last had a cat and I'd forgotten what they are like as kittens!

Just a quick update - tried them both with James Wellbegood kitten food and they loved it! Missy wolfed it down and then came back for more
Mollie seemed to find it a bit more tricky but was able to eat bits off my finger (and nipping them with her razor sharp teeth into the bargain!) Must just be discerning little kitties as there is no way that they were being fed that at their old home!

That's great news, well done! :T“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
When I was at the pet shop buying the James Wellbegood, the lady also gave me some free samples of Royal Canin so they have had some of that this morning and chomped it down very happily - trust me to have kittens that don't like the cheaper stuff - only joking! My oh is laughing at me as he reckons the kittens eat better than we do - I told him they were my little babies and they can eat whatever they like, no matter how expensive!
Missy seems to be able to eat from the bowl better than Mollie and is generally the more boisterous of the two. How can I make sure they both get an equal share of the food? Missy kept pushing Mollie out of the way before!Mammy to 2 boys aged 5 and 20
