The RSPCA will disagree. I got a cat last week and they wont give cats that aren't neurted/spayed and treated and you have to agree to have it done annually

Cat Flue is nasty apparently so I been told and can infect a whole area so RSPCA told me for sake of £50 quid for full lot its worth it. Also catterys wont take pets in unless they are vaccinated against flue etc

I lost my cat last week possibly due to leukaemia (he had anaemia which was triggered by something we the vet didn't know what causing it) which may have been prevented had I paid a little bit more for the triple injection. Also cats boosters need doing every year within 2 weeks reminder the vets send you otherwise its a full lot again

I don't want to start an argument but jabs are vital, (IMHO) it is plain irresponsible not to have your cat protected against HIV etc, to prevent it spreading. For the cost of 50-60 quid what's the point in risking it? Plus it happens at Xmas time - great present for him :D

As for costs, my cat costs around £2 a week for food and as someone else said £1.14 for cat litter once a week. That's it.

Why, why does my cat have to have expensive taste in litter and food...
Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.
  • Great money saving tips! My costs are double because I have two boys :)

Tbh...don't bother buying them toys! My boys only play with a cheap PINK (!) ball out of all the stuff we bought them. They go mad over toilet rolls, bobbles, ear buds (ew!) and bits of string.

So, don't bother buying toys apart from cheap plastic balls, they're a waste!

Also, our boys' bed is also their carry case for vets/cattery etc...I think it's actually a dog's bed. It's made of a thick material with meshed sides and zips, and we bought a big cushion for inside. It also means they're not scared about going anywhere in it :)

My boys are 15months now and one is a big lad, and they fit fine in it.

Jabs are not a must, I have never given them to any cat I own and they all have lived to a ripe old age if they have been fortunate not to have met with a car.

Of course they are a must, isn't your cat worth it? What if he/she gets a disease that could have been prevented by having jabs? One day you won't be so lucky and to be honest in my eyes if you love your cat then the cost is worth it.

You can easily put coppers/pounds/twenty pence pieces in a jar during the year and I bet you will have enough money for the cost of the jabs when you count it all up. Doing it that way would save you looking for the money all at once.

£ 255 for a cat per month is really expensive. I guess you must try to cut it down abit :P

£28.30 per cat a month then, just over £7 per week for each cat
