well my wife would always pick a kitten (they are cute!)

but i think getting a cat that needs a new home is a lot better
The orginal post in this thread has a very very slim chance of being about money saving. The post is more than likely to ask a question that google could answer better than any of us.

Really, I never knew that. I suppose that covers the cost of vaccinations and neutering?

I went to Cats Protection but they didn't have many cats available at the time.

They told me March was kitten season (which I now know to be a bit inaccurate!) so by April I was giving up hope of there being a suitable cat / kitten as I had still hardly heard about any.

I started looking for kitten ads and eventually my family found some in their area.

Perhaps I'm shallow, but deep down, I did want a kitten. I get to see them grow up and bond with me, and then (hopefully) be affectionate cats :)
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

My parents got a kitten (now 5yr old cat) from the Cat Protection and they were very helpful., they are a fantastic organisation and the animals just need loving homes.

Me and my fiancee have two young cats - 15 months and brothers. They are our world and mean everything to us. We treat them like children and they really extremely spoilt....cuddles before bedtime and every morning, treats morning and night, we tuck them in bed at night (each has a radiator bed!) and they even have their own bedroom!

I understand how hard it must be to get over losing your little man because it would be so incredibly hard to get over ever losing my boys. But remember, cats love you and just want you to be happy, so he would want you to be happy and find another friend to look after you...well, maybe he'd be moody first and then get over it like cats do! :D

No matter if you get a kitten or a cat...you're changing an animal's life by adopting them. No one will replace your old cat, but they can sure create new memories, while keeping older memories safely stored and displayed.

How emotional am I about cats! But hopefully someone understands and cares as I do. Good luck with whatever you decide!

They are very good prices, in my eyes if someone cannot afford to rehome a cat/dog from a rescue then they can't afford to look after it.

    Goodluck in your search.

I think that's quiet reasonable the fees its after all not even covering what you would pay for if you were a caring pet owner if you did it yourself

I do regret having not had the leukaemia jab for my boy he was due a jab early this month but because he was ill I didn't go for it. I been told by RSPCA that a booster has to be taken with two weeks of the annual reminder the vet sends or you have to have the full lot

Poppycat, where do you live ?, I may know of a kitten who needs a home
  • Hi all. I just wondered if any of you cat owners out there could give me any advice. Aside from non-normal costs (i.e. non-routine vet bills, cattery charges, toys, etc), how much on average do you reckon it costs to keep a cat/kitten (plus any annual charges)? Also how does pet insurance work (does it just cover non-routine vet costs or does it cover things such as flea treatment, annual jabs, etc)? Also, is there any organisations or anything that can help with care costs (i.e. Cat Protection League, etc)? Thanks in advance for any help!
