Chopped nuts. Honey. Grated fruit. Mashed banana. Pureed fruit. All good.

But my toddler loves half a teaspoon of jam in his best.
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.
  • Is there any way of making those syrups that you add to hm yoghurt to flavour it?
I'm not convinced jam would do but my lot like the sweetness of those syrups and just adding fruit doesn't seem to work and they don't like adding honey - picky lot aren't they! :(
  • I don't make my own yoghurt yet, but have made some sort of syrups in the past.
I made a rhubarb syrup like this:

    drained juice from tin rhubarb
    added sugar
boiled down in pan until right consistency

I also make a sugar syrup for my fruit salads which is
    100g sugar
    100ml water

Boil in pan for about 3 mins then let cool.
This is also a base for my HM lemonade

To make a fruit syrup I guess you'd just boil down some juice with sugar, like I did for the rhubarb??

  • Asda make a "Sweet Strawberry Sauce" for ice-cream but I've added this to HM yogurt and it tastes ok. Unfortunately my kids aren't keen on natural yogurt and insist that it tastes more like petit filous before they'll even attempt to eat it. I did wonder if a little of the Crusha milkshake mix would work - it should mix well as it's liquid and it's designed for milk products. I'll feedback when I get round to trying it.
It's better to beg forgiveness than ask permission.

We use the crusha milkshake syrup (sugar free one) and make yoghurt drinks - they taste as good as the ones you buy. Also Morrisons do a luxury strawberry ice cream sauce which is not quite as synthetic as those treat? ones. I am a boring soul and tend to like strawberry and raspberry yoghurts, but it would be nice to make toffee ones too.

I make yogurt all the time and one of the favourites is made as follows:-

1 pkt of jelly (any make and whatever your fav flavour is) melted in approx 5fluid ounces of boiling water (I do mine in the microwave takes seconds) allow to cool slightly then whisk into the yogurt. This makes a fairly firm set, just add more water if you prefer a runny yogurt.
  • I use a recipe for making sorbet and add it to the yogurt instead of freezing it:

125ml water, 200g caster sugar for the sugar syrup and then add any fruit you like
Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!
  • Hi
Kingshir, is that one pint of jelly for a litre of yoghurt, that sounds quite good!
I hadn't thought of using crusha, I made some chocolate syrup so i may try that in furture, but if i start giving them choccy yoghurt - they've finally got choc on everything!
Astep - how do you do your HM lemonade please?
  • Not happy, I have a runny yoghurt as someone turned off the plug on the machine - now who's told them not to leave lights and plugs on....d'oh!!!!!!!!!
