  • The new price for BG is fixed until 2011 - would I be better to sign up for this now or a lower price which is only capped until 2009?

The problem being that come 2009 will the prices be higher than the price BG are offering until 2011?

I would sign up to the 2011 if I wasn't already on one. As more of the providers start to increase there prices this prospect will look a lot rosier because they wont be able to match the length of their Price Protections

I was on BG fix and fall v2, I panicked and chose the capped till 2011 with BG, then I realised Click Energy 5 was a better deal.

Have I done the right thing?
Will the 2011 cap be cancelled by my Click Energy 5 order that I placed and had accepted 15 mins later?

Is there anything else I can do apart from switch providers?

I struggle with these deals

Click Energy 5 is currently the best I would definitely recommend it, basically if you use the net sign up now.

Worth a mention that the energy companies will continue to want to lure new customers onto its variable rate tariffs with cheaper prices than its existing variable rate tariffs by launching new variable rate products, and that people are free to switch provider every single quarter gaining a cashback each time for doing so which on a dual fuel switch basis is worth in the region of 55-70.00 each time. ;)
Whilst you can switch as frequently as blf suggests, one issue to consider is that several of the suppliers offer their discounts on an annual basis. So if you switch to one of these, because they seem best value, and then switch away again 3 months later, you won't pay the price you think you are getting because you won't get the discount.

I am currently sitting struggling trying to work out the best deals....it's mind boggling  !!! I see that at the moment I think that Scottish Power capped until 2009 seems to be the cheapest however, with the current panic re price hikes I was wondering if we would be better capping with British Gas until 2011 ....do you think the price rises will continue through all of next year etc? Then I see this BG Click Energy 5 deal which is cheaper again than the other two I was originally looking at gggarrrgghhh  is it possible that they will put this up though and then it could be higher than the capped rate and they might then remove the capped rate lol lol what to do?????

    HELP!!!

I have just switched to the BG Price Guarantee December 2009 rate - this evening - can anyone confirm that this is still the old capped rate and will go through as that even though BG has announced big price rises today - I switched through the energyhelpline site.

    Thanks for your help.
I work for British Gas ... Yes you will get PG2009dec based on the old tariffs before todays price rise

I am on the price Fix 2010, I am really worried that in 2010 my costs are going to shoot up. Any suggestions (as I assume this is not a short term issue). Another question is the 2010 price fix Jan 2010 or Dec 2010 ??
