would help saving elsewhere, over the years to come.
You can be transferred to the "debt" department (sorry for the terminology) and they can agree an installment plan where the outstanding balance can be split into 3 installments0 -
I'm similar to you.....capped last weekend with BG,[from EDF], but BG haven't confirmed anything at all! I don't know wether I am a BG customer at all, and if I am, was I capped at the pre 35% rate [2009 cap] or the post 35% rate [2011]. Of course, in trying to contact BG to ask them is proving impossible. That MD of BG on GMTV this morning......so arrogant. He cares diddly squat about his so called "valued" customers.
i work for british gas and i can promise you that this managing director is a breath of fresh air compared to previous. He has time for staff on a personal level and his main issue is hes trying to provide the best customer service available. For example i have emailed him with information about things I do not think are right and ways I think he can improve customer service. He acted promptly and ordered changes , which currently got my immediate bosses in the sh*t. Ive spoken to this guy personally and believe me hes got the customers interest at heart0 -
That is surely just a tactic to drag as many people onto their internet based Click 5 as they can get, and then they will put it up in a few weeks.0

I'm currently on Click Energy 5 and have been since just after it became available.
I've just given BG a call to see how much more I'd be paying if I moved to Fixed Price 2011. I was told this could only be calculated if/when I switched, however the lady I spoke with did offer details of the prices differences between CE5 and FP11.
She said that at this stage it wasn't in my interest to switch, as CE5 was still their best rates. I did ask when the CE5 prices would increase and she stated that she wasn't sure, however did again say I should stick with the package I'm on.
I then asked if BG would introduce a Click Energy 6 in the next few week, to which she paused and said she didn't have that information available. I'm not sure she has been told there will be a CE6, however from her reaction, got the feeling she believed it might happen!
Hope this helps.

Should you cap on British Gas’ new 2011 cap?
This has become a very common question. Its new capped tariff ISN’T one of the cheap caps. It’s set at the same as BG standard tariff rate. People on cheaper tariffs like Click Energy will a hefty premium if they switch to it, and its unlikely to be worth it in the short run.
For others while it’s the same price as BGs standard tariff, if you get it and need to leave there’s a penalty of up to £70; so if prices come down sometime between now and 2011 (sadly I don’t have a crystal ball to look that far) it’ll hurt. Overall I wouldn’t cap with this, yet, as there’s no rush, so its worth waiting until all the energy suppliers have put their prices up to see where the land lies.0
