  • Has anyone who used travel_freak as an A&L 'referring friend' had their money from her yet. She seems to have gone incommunicado!! Just added 2 and 2 and all that?
  • Hi tinalives,

When I upgraded from Premier to Premier Plus (now Direct) it just took a phone call - no forms to fill in. HTH

  • I'm fed up with A&L too. OPened account in September, and funded it with my husbands A&L acct. as I'm a full time mum. Missed the small print about NOT funding with another A&L account (even if it is not in your name), So NO £50 for me!!!
. Have now closed account after pathetic Customer service. Don't get caught out too!!!

I got my £50 after several months of wrangling but would now like to close the account. Anyone know if they 'claw back' the £50? The account has been opened now for 5 months.
  • Sounds very simple to 'recommend a friend' £50,BUT in my experience it wasn't that easy! My husband recommended a family member ( back in Sepember 05), then the family member recommended me..thought we would be quids in. The accounts have been funded, but after 4 months, half a dozen phone calls a visit to the branch ( which involved a 15 mile trip for us) and several e mails NO £50 fOR MYSELF OR MY HUSBAND. The last straw was when my husband phoned them on Monday, we were promised a call back...........yes we did get a call from the A & L, but it was a cold caller trying to sell us finance !!If this is their customer care, they can keep it. We're off to the Abbey

After both my wife and I opening accounts with A&L (she recommended me) we waited for the £50s to be credited to our accounts my wife had her salary paid in and transferred £500 a month to me.

I rang up to find out what had happened to the £50 set up bribes, to be told they would look in to it, plus I got told off for using "1899" and using the over-seas number to call as they can tell somehow. So I asked to be given a landline number but they refused point blank.

 Anyway a letter came today saying because I had transferred funds from my wife's A&L account I never qualified for the £50, I stated that no mention of this was on the Ts and Cs on the web when I signed up and they where happy to take the account and money, what difference did it make, my wife could have her salary payed in to the old account and just transfer the required amounts to both our A&L accounts, the money is still there. She couldn't even tell me where it said it in the Ts and Cs (After I had my letter !!"Before I phoned"} I downloaded a full copy of the Terms and Conditions, and it was there, Paragraph 32.2) so I told her.

They agreed to give me a second bite of the cherry but she warned me they will be watching for the money circling around the accounts (I think she knew we are "players/carpetbaggers" and proud of it). :T

This is, to put it mildly, incorect. See, for example, my post #76 dated 28/07 in Best Current Accounts Discussion Area ...
