I got a gold christening bracelet for my daughter from her godmother and I love it. It doesn't cost much (as it's so small), and you can always get it engraved.ely wrote:Want to buy a present that is a little different from the usual silver items (that get put at back of cupboard!!) obviously without spending a fortune about £ 20 ish
Failing that, a bible is a nice idea for a chistening (you can get children's ones) as you can dedicate in the front.
Sorry if they're a bit predictable, but they were my favourite presents."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
just chatted to my friend about this who has 2 littlies under 2. She said the best thing you could do is give her a "cheque book" with "cheques" for favours like babysitting, making the family dinner one night, sitting with baby whilst mum has a sleep or a bath, taking her out to lunch and then maybe a real "cheque" like a mothercare voucher at the back.
Congratulations on being a godmum btw its a great role:j0 -
My favourite is a Memory Box. I never had the time to complete a baby book (although I would have loved to) but the Box is lovely as you can put all your treasured belongings in it. The one I bought for a friend has a place for photos, an envelope for first curl etc.
There are plenty of different styles around. You can personalise it by putting a little poem or a photo of you and baby's parents in it.
Something like this:

Hi my twin nieces are getting christened on the 18th june at 10mths, I have brought them the royal doulton winnie the pooh dinner set each.
Still waiting to be asked to be Godmother!!!!0 -
Asda currently has a 'complete Winnie the Pooh' (2 hardbacks in a card presentation box) reduced to around £5 in its books section. Would make a lovely gift - the parents would probably enjoy the trip down memory lane reading it long before the baby will be old enough to enjoy it too!0
