My brother works for CEX, and their last month's salaries have not been paid. The company have just said there was a "banking problem". Watch this space, but I wouldn't be surprised if the company might fold.0

It's very easy to pass the buck onto someone else, and I don't blame people for being sceptical. :think:0 -
I traded in my phone in the Birmingham (Corporation Street) Branch, and they said that they couldn't give money for any trade in, and by the sound of things it's been like this for a while now. Don't know whether this is the same across every store, but considering the trade-in value is 50% more than the cash value, I still managed to sort out a few things for my brother and father's birthdays.
Would rather have had the money, though0 -
Over the past few years i have always had problems getting cash out of them. I sell my old Graphics cards back to their stores and sometimes have had to go 3 times before they have any cash they can give me0

well well i see CEX is finally receiving some proper feedback for a change. the stores are ok as i have bought from them all over the country - Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield, Preston, Birmingham, Manchester x 2, Stoke, Derby, Nottingham and Liverpool x2. the problem is some of the staff. they feel that being behind the counter gives them some form of authority over customers.......... selling customers and customers returning goods. They can sometimes be very judgemental and even predujiced. Refund policy is quite bad ......... you pay cash and get store credit even if returned within their 48 hr period for returns. it says any reason and you receive full refunds now this has been changed to store credit. even if you literally purchased the item 5 mins ago you get store credit. i am sure this is down to these certain few employees on power trips. i have also noticed policies are interpreted differently in every store and is down to the discretion of the manager on the day........ whoever that may be as it often changes depending on who is in. just imagine you are in uni and one day you are told you are in charge for the day................ go figure!!!!!!!!!!!!! some staff are very good but too many bad weeds in there. some have no training at all nor do they care. it is bad to rubbish CEX on a whole or make fun of their rUmoured financial plight but i am not afraid to rubbish some of their employees who on ocassions deserve the abuse they get!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! APOLOGIES for any spelling errors as i can't be bothered doing a spell check0

I live in Newcastle and have taken a Nokia N95 8gb in to sell on four different occasions, each time to be told theyre not buying in that day. Very tempted to write in and complain, thought this was the purpose of the store?!0

I sold CEX my unlocked Motorola Z3 phone last month and duly received their check for £38 on the 10th of July.
A week later the cheque was returned by my bank - it has 'Payment prevented, Insolvency Act proceedings' printed on it.
Martin Lewis directed me to wecare@webuy.com who he said should be able to help me. They replied on 2nd August, saying:

We will re-issue your cheque as soon as possible, and it should be sent during next week. I apologise for any inconvenience and the matter should be resolved shortly. Thank you.

No cheque has appeared. I have emailed them again, but had no response.0 -
I recommend people now definitely avoid this company. I've always had problems getting my money but succeeded and put up with the hassle because the prices were generally far superior. I no longer have reason to trust them and would add my warning to the many others who have posted about them over a long period.0

yes, I should advised people to be careful when trading with CEX online as their customer service does not exist anymore. They will let the COm team of each store to do it now. So think about this: you sent your stuff to head office, and head office transfer to logistic, and logistic transfers stock to each stores by request or randomly. And you stuff got sold, CEX has money to pay for expenditures and you are left with your bill that supports to be paid after Cex paid you. And if you do have a problem, your email will be forward to some random com team of a store to sort it out. And phone them up ? The number is a money making machine for them.
SO JUST STAY AWAY FROM SELLING FOR CASH OR VOUCHER. JUST DO IT IN STORE. BUT ALWAYS CHECK BECAUSE YOU CAN ALWAYS SELL AT A HIGHER PRICE OR BUY AT CHEAPER PRICE ANYWHERE ELSE, SUCH AS HOTUKDEALS, AVFORUMS AND EBAY0
