  • I traded a phone in last year with CEX and had no problems.

However traded in my phone online in June, when I checked my account on the website in July it said my card details had expired and to phone their customer service. I tried this numerous times but just end up in the queue loop! Have also tried emailing them several times and updating my card details on the website but still no money.

I know it's my fault I'd let my card details expire, however nobody from CEX has tried to contact me, and doesn't reply to any of my emails.

1 to avoid until they sort their financial matters out!
  • They won't. Although the line is active they have "closed down" the switchboard so you will be a skeleton only before they ever actually answer a call. That alone should tell you what this company is about.
  • It is true. For people who think CEX with loads of store across country must have a nice office and loads of office staff. But it is wrong, CEX head office in Watford is only contain only on one small floor where all the departments are. HR on one side, Stock control one side, Commercial team is 4-6 pc placed around the table and there is someone sit there. Basicly, all the "so-called" CEX head office is like a sardine in a tin.

I still use them successfully from time to time - but I don't trust them.

I took a Samsung E590 into the Sheffield store a couple of weeks ago and they paid me A Grade, not sure if I would have got that if I had posted the phone.
  • I just use CEX to sell my old iphone 3G 8GB as I was buying the new 3GS, quoted me £207 and it is in perfect condition, sent it off and the said it couldn't be synced and paid me £45! That's a hell of a price drop, I reset my phone wiping the contents, as soon as someone buys that, puts a new SIM card in it, it will sync no problem. Never had a problem with them up to now, wish I went with Envirofone, offered less but least they would of paid out the advertised price. Never had a problem with them before, but I won't be using them again.
