Grr, one of my plans to get my first 6 bookings was to go to my toddler group with some products and leaflets etc. I went in today as usually to find it had suddenly doubled in size so was too loud and packed out to get chatting and after speaking to one of my mates I discovered that the other toddler group yesterday had a lady with a stall handing out BSAH leaflets etc! So now my potential customers will mostly be going to her. I wasn't aware there was another lady in my town doing it so I'm a bit annoyed but fair play she was there first. Hopefully she won't do the same thing at my group so I may be able to do it there.
Really want to do a fundraiser as one of my 6 initial bookings, is that allowed??
Bodyshopbabe, good luck at your pamper evening and hope it goes well.
How did you get into doing that, if you don't mind me asking?June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

Hi Ragz!
Bit annoying about your local competitor! Get going in your toddler group asap!
Are you a member of Netmums website? That's how I found out about the pamper evening. It's free to join and there's a thread on there specifically for party planners. Someone locally had posted a general request for therapists to attend this event , I responded and it went from there.
The site's been great for me as you can keep in touch with local mums and there is a section for local events and meet ups with other mums. I'm doing a talk and a party for a group of local mums over 4 weeks so doing facials one week, makeovers the next and so on.
You can also advertise your business for free on a Direct Sellers listing or you can pay to have a big advert.
Worth you checking out. x0 -
Hi all!! Well, my neighbour booked a party for november. November is a fantastic month for me at the mo but october is quiet. Just 2 parties and 1 fundraiser. This month ive only had 2 parties too. One did £332.50 and the other is a party in a bag and she has managed to get £130 for her free shopping. So not a disaster (can still get kit build) but a bit disappointing as i wanted the sales promo (lip tin and winter make up i think it is).
Ive got a fundraiser tomorrow so im hoping to get parties/recruits from that (not expecting many sales but i might be surprised!)

Hi Monica
I found it on the working for yourself board then there is a Body Shop general discussion. A couple of months ago someone just placed a request for therapists on there. Alternatively there are some Christmas fayres advertised on the general noticeboard. I think you join the Netmums site local to you so I guess it depends on if any events are going on.
I've also booked into a couple of Christmas fayres local to me by searching them out on the internet. Not sure how good they'll be but tables are only £10 and I'm planning to sell some Christmas stock there so should be able to recoup some outlay.

I'm in Julia Basset's region (Midlands and Wales). Done pretty well with Sept really, I've not been doing this long so Sept was my first whole month and I got the £700 for my sucess start 1 and also the christmas bits, I've got a few parties in October, some right at the beginning where they will count for my sucess start so I'm hoping to get success start 2 as well but I'll have to see how it goes. I'll be lucky if I get level 3 but I'm so close to level 2 that a couple of really good parties with the new Christmas catalogue might hopefully tip the balance.
I'm on netmums too, though I'm not a mum. I hadn't thought of checking out the other boards for local events though, that's a good idea!
How is everyone else getting on? who has won or likely to win the make up box for £1000 in sept?0 -
slightly random question maybe but do any of you have liability insurance? for if make-up gets dropped and ruins a carpet for example?0

hi everyone!
Thank you for all the tips on here!
We have our first party booked for Wednesday.
And we got our starter kit delivered yesterday, problem is, all the catalogues were July - Sept!! so had to phone them to send the correct ones, which is making me nervous incase they dont arrive in time!
Did anyone find it difficult doing their first party with only the starter kit? we thought you would have got an item from each page :-( got loads of make up and brushes etc, and nearly all the vitamin e set, but nothing much of the other sets or and xmas stuff ..... we really scared now :-(
Is it worth buying all the other items we need?
Also, does any one have any party games, or the cards that help you know what to say through the party.
Any responce would be appreciated!

did you not get the prompt cards in your starter kit?
I found that everything I needed was in the starter kit. If you didn't go for the joining offer that includes some Christmas gifts then it's probably worth getting a few of those. The other things that I could reccomend are a few of the small body butters to give a wider range of the fragrances and maybe some of the buriti baby things but those are by no means necessary, just might be nice to have them to show if people ask but if you don't have them just tell people that they are great, your friend Ellie says so!0 -
cath and kim you should have got some prompt cards in your starter kit and a dvd which is a bit cheesy but might help you out a lot. Im gonna watch it again tonight because i havent done a party since the beginning of september and even though tomorrow its not a party im doing, i just want to be reminded of things i may forget.
I bought a buriti baby body lotion and a cassis rose perfume. Also i bought a strawberry fragrance oil for a bit of variety. I got my success start level 1 as well.
Have just found out that theres going to be around 45 people at the fundraiser tomorrow so i think i'll make around 10 party packs up as planned and hope to book as many as i can. As long as i can get a couple booked in for october and some for december i'll see it as a successful day!

PS Ellie i dont have insurance as yet, i wanted to see how it went before i forked out for that. If it keeps going well after xmas i'll get some but if its gonna stop then its not worth it.0
