I made home made flyers, I put The Body Shop Logo in the corner and printed them off at home then just put them up in newsagents, Co-ops etc around my area. Charges vary from 50p - £2 I found per week, but a little tip is the Co-op's don't charge, well not the ones near me anyway!

ah okay thanks for that.. did you get much success with parties from doing this then?

sorry about my spelling before!
Thanks for your advice, its teh 6 parties in 3 weeks that scares me. Im usually okay infront of people aslong as i know what im doing so im sure i will be fine aslong as i can find my first few sets of parties. The party in a bag etc sounds like a good idea. When you say you go round dropping off catalogues round the neighbourhood.. how do you then see if they want to order? = sorry probably a dumb question.
I am going to talk to a manger on the phone in a couple of days. Oh and sorry one last question- is training always on a week day as im still at college and dont want to miss too much of it!
thanks Kim

When you drop them through peoples doors i would put a note on saying what day and am/pm you will collect it and go back around a week later or sumthing and collect them and then put them through either as a party and then you get all the free shopping which is a gud way to build your kit up or add them to another party order its up2 u how you do this one. The only thing with the party in the bag i would set a date to have the back by as the last day of ordering is 19th december and gives them a deadline also ive set a challenege to all of mine i:e if they got the most orders they will get a pamper kit and also ive noted on the order forms that if they order over 4 products ill give them a free gift you could give them sumthing like a bottle of wine or something from bodyshop.
My training was on a nite for 2 hours i think it depends what region you are in etc as all managers organise them i would ask you manager when the next training session is and also maybe ask her for tips see if she can give you on the spot training be4 your 1st party. if you want to know anything else than just ask.

My training was on a Sunday (Jan James region). When I joined I tried to get my 6 parties booked within 3 weeks but when I looked at the contractual notes at the bottom of the joining flyer it's 6 parties within a 6 week period.
I've set up a Facebook group and I really push the booking of parties at parties as the host currently gets a further £10 shopping if 2 further bookings are made within 6 weeks of party date.
Posters can be found on Quinstreet that you can print off.
Hope this helps

when they say 6 parties within 3 or 6 weeks... is that to have done the party by then, or just have it booked? do people usually give a good few weeks between booking and the actual date?
thanks xx0 -

As far as I'm aware you have to have 6 parties booked before they will register you and send out your kit. They try and get you to book them all within a 3 week period (ie to actually do the parties in that time). The six parties cover their costs and ensure you're not just signing up to get the products for a hugely discounted price.
I personally found it hard to book more parties as my first 6 were my friends and they're weren't many people I didn't know at the parties that I could attract other party bookings with. It's getting better now as I'm trying to spread the word.
Netmums let you advertise on the website for free...worth a try.0 -

thanks very much, and do i have to make a certain amount at these 6, i think i just worry too much that something will go horribly wrong!
Im sure when i get to speak to the manager she will fill me in on all these details.
thanks guys, i appreciate your replies. x0 -

The amount you make depends on party sales and you're not pressured. Every new starter is automatically enrolled into Success Start in which depending how much sales you do in your very first 6 weeks you can win extra items for your kit.
Give you manager a call - she won't mind (they are there for you and were new starters themselves once) ask all the questions you need.
Good luck0 -
katy_tbsah wrote: »ragz did you get any party bookings at the last one you did though?? I'd say it'd make it worth going if you can advertise Jan detox parties maybe and get that booked up.
i did a table at a fundraiser not long ago, didn't think I'd get many orders but was hoping to get more bookings and didn't get any! I did get £80 of orders though (the table was only a fiver) so maybe it'll surprise you.
How do you hear of these things just out of interest, did someone approach you about it? My AM put me on to the fundraiser I did and she just shares them out to the girls in the area as they come.
I was thinking about organising a ladies shopping/pamper evening myself at a restaurant bar thing in a big leisure centre near me as my friend works there, can we just organise them ourselves? Has anyone else done this? I have contacts with 2 women who sell jewellery and one who does candle parties so thought I could get in touch with them about it?
xx
Hi Katy
My Regional Manager recommends that if you are arranging a shopping evening you advertise it as a Body Shop exclusive so have no other stalls there. You do it as one big party but use the make over as a raffle prize. If you pick a charity and do it as a fundraiser you are more likely to attract people, say that you will donate x% after the first £200 that way you will make at least £50. She says that as long as its well planned it is the best way to make money from a shopping evening as you have everyones attention just for BS. She knows other AMs that have done it and made lots so if its something you can arrange its worth doing.0
