1p calls for Diwali

Hello,
I use Bulldog. The number does not work. The message is 'Number not in service' I contacted Bulldog customer services and their technical team did some checking and said that it has been blocked on their line by Pennyphone and suggested that I contact them. I protested to Bulldog that I had switched service providers on the understanding that the line would work exactly as BT does. They just apologised. I am seriously thinking of going back to BT. It however works on BT though at times due to heavy traffic it may be delayed or you may have to redial.

My parents have called India using the number (1p per min) last nite, early this morning & again throughout the day today. When tying to call any land line in India (they have tried about 4 different ones) they are unable to get through at various times. However they have called through to mobiles in India about 12 times, sometimes for up to an hour each time, and they have always got through & also had a confirmation message saying this call is charged at 1p per min.....Just hope they don't get a nasty surprise when their phone bill arrives0

I wonder when the MSE team will realise that hardly anyone is getting through to India and this is clearly a scam to make money out of us?
I'm sorry to appear so angry (I'm not) but more and more people are falling into this trap and it really goes against the whole point of this site, doesn't it? I would place Pennyphone under the category "MoneyWasting", not MoneySaving. I'm just annoyed that the team are not telling us openly that this is a scam instead of being fobbed off with the old 'technical glitch' excuse. Come on MSE Admin please expose them for the scamsters they are.0 -
Hi we have used the service since 1 November and have made several calls. Of course we did geta couple of engaged tones and did not get through every now and then, but overall I was happt with it - but the offer seems to be over now. Now when you can you get given another number to call and the diwali message has gone from the web site.
The new rate is 5p to call mobile numbers and 6p for land lines. Still pretty good.

Hi
I'm not sure where the idea that it hardly worked for anyone came from as we didn't get any emails about it as far as I know.
Pennyphone has said calls to the Mumbai and Gujarat regions were re-routed to an alternative carrier during the promotion due to capacity problems so it may be this is what some people experienced.
