I talked to Pennyphone earlier. They've told me they had some technical problems this morning. I've just checked and it's still not been resolved. I'll let you know what they say when they get back to me.

Also, are you actually calling through to a specific number, or just listening to the message to hear the cost?

Also, just to check, are you using the number in the first post of this thread? It's a special number for this offer, for all countries.

You need to use this number to get it and not the ones on the callchecker.

I've only tried for India and it is using the number that Martin had on the link from last weeks email. It's the right number I checked on their site too :j

I am calling to specific numbers (or trying to!) and I know they work because when I try through Alpha Telecom (10p per minute) they connect without a problem. Strange how there's a 'glitch' only on the 1p per minute number but not on their 0871 charged at 7p - that works first time. No surprises there then :rolleyes:

I have seen complaints on three other sites tonight that the Pennyphone 0844 number does not deliver the goods!
Pennyphone are part of the Callax Group who also have the brands Abroadtel and Phonebird.

Crazychemist, before I contact Pennyphone again, can I just get this clear?

You're calling 0844 721 4 721, you get the 1p per minute message but once you dial the specific destination number you're not getting through? Whereas when you dial using the usual number you get the 7p message and the call connects?

And when was the last time you tried to make the call?

If there's anyone that it has worked for, can you reply on here please?

Just tried the advertised number from a BT land line, and got the call connected at 1p/minute. Voice quality was good too.

am with tiscali and get the first message " call at 1p per min"
then can't connect.
maybe u have to be with BT??
