Evening all
I've had a LOVELY day. Though I'm thoroughly pooped. We must have walked about 10 miles in all.
I got really nervous about 10am imagining allsorts - particularly that he'd be a huge tub of lard like ex2 ended up being (he was slim when I met him and just got bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger and of course it was all MY fault. I MADE him demolish a whole loaf of bread in one sitting straight after dinner etc. etc. etc.).
But, he turned up about 10.50 and was not a tub of lard. Not the svelt guy I was married to all those years ago either but ordinary middle aged spread stuff (just like me!), Shorter than I remember but maybe I've grown (and he is still taller than me)! The dog is a wonderful ice breaker so there was no awkwardness as she brought him a cushion from the settee so that started laughter immediately. DS was actually up and about and came out and said hello so I made us all a cup of tea and we sat and chatted a bit.
Then ex1 and I took the dog over the park and walked round that for about an hour. And chatted. About all sorts of things. We came back and had another cup of tea with DS.
Then ex1 and I went out by ourselves and walked down to the sea (about 1.5 miles) then all along the beach to the next town (another mile or so). Chatting. Then he bought me a late lunch/early dinner at a wonderful fish restaurant I'd heard good things about but had not been to and we chatted as we ate.
Then we walked around that town a bit and chatted. We stopped off at a hotel for a drink in their garden and chatted.
Then we walked all the way back to mine by a different route (about 3 miles) and chatted. Then he came in for a cup of tea and we sat in the garden and chatted. We chatted about all sorts of things. He is just as interested in wildlife and nature as I am. He is just as interested in architecture and local history as I am (neither of us were way back then).
I asked him what his plans were for tomorrow he said he'd probably get the map and compass out and go for a walk. I said well I could come over to you and show you xy and z if you wanted - if I haven't bored you too much today with my prattlings on about this building, the history of that etc. etc. He said he hadn't been bored at all and had really enjoyed the day and it would be lovely to go see xy and z.
So, I shall do Tesco first thing then head off and meet up with him again tomorrow.
It was a nice day. There were no awkward moments. No nasty bits, just nice things. I think we could end up good friends.
so I'm pooped, sunburnt but cuiriously content and will be heading for my bed very soon.
So that was my day ladies.
It was a good one...I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Things I never iron and I struggle to keep on top of the ironing as it is
I think the problem with housework - whatever it is - is that you do the jobs you like - or hate least first and the things you dislike are harder to do and lower priority. I got into the habit of keeping up with the ironing because ma would come down to 'help out' and I know she HATES ironing - so I try to make sure there's never any to do. Most weeks she comes and cleans something for me, usually the lounge although she's a dab hand at brushing my carpets which seem to attract dirt as though they were nylon even though they are wool! That's a job I rarely do!
I know I iron things most people wouldn't bother with!;)Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Oh Soappie that's lovely to hear. I am so pleased for you. Have a good day tomorrow. soappie hope tomorrow goes as well as today. I agree with pigpen. It must be really strange for your son after all this time.
Valli - sorry, not a chance I'd be ironing all those either, I iron what NEEDS to be and NOTHING more!
Right, front garden is done, back is nearly done, it's better than it was and I think I will just finish the rest and go over what I've done again on Thursday (before we're away again) actually I need to do a whopper to do list for Thursday....
Rest of this evening -
Finish unpacking bags from car - shopping, some stuff for caravan to put away/pile up ready for tomorrow
Move my car onto drive
Shower & defuzz (swimming next week, eek, best defuzz)
Pack my toiletries bag inc shaver, make up, straightners etc
Tidy kitchen & put last DW load on
Wash new towels because they stink! (Hope they can go in the TD)
Move everything from LLs fridge (which I think is on the blink) to mine
Iron what needs doing to take **shudders**
Find - my swimming stuff, boys shorts, waterproof coats (forecast isn't great)
Pack non fridge food to take into bags
Put fridge food to take all on seperate shelves
Put freezer stuff in bag just to pick up and goOne day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
Have just soaked my feet and scrubbed and moisturised them. They were killing me! They feel a tad better now.
Pigpen - don't worry - I'll stay safe.
Lil-me - I think it was strange for all of us. I spoke to DS just now and asked him what he thought about his father and how he was feeling and he said it was Ok (a genuine OK not a grumpy Kevin type OK) he thought ex1 was nice and friendly and chatty and he liked him. It's difficult to describe just how it all went. It wasn't an ex meets ex situation, it was more like distant cousin meets distant cousin and their family - you have past things in common but you're not dwelling on the past, you're enjoying the now.
Oh bum - I've just realised that if I'm driving him around in the car tomorrow, I'd best muck it out first! That'll be tomorrow, before Tesco taken care of!
And SarahSh (I think it was!) the only reason I made sure the house was sparkling and that the car will be presentable tomorrow is because I was the world's worst, most slovenly, housekeeper in the time I was married to him and I now have Pride
right - off to bed.

Evening ladies
Kazwookie very sorry to hear about your mum - my thoughts are with you.
soappie glad to hear the day went so well for you

Today has gone so quickly - not sure where,- had a bit of a lie in till 7:45
- stripped all beds, got that in the WM
- got up, got both kids fed and dressed
- put away clothes i ironed last night
- collapsed airers and ironing board, moved rest of ironing and the hols clothes i had ironed onto our bed
- stuff from landing put in loft or in DS1's bedroom
- DH moved a single bed and spare mattress and futon from the boys new room to the garage, which required 1st moving things in the garage so they would fit
- had lunch
- sofa bed delivered
- moved furniture around in that room a bit till we found what worked
- bedding in TD
- towels that were in the TD brought in and folded/ready for next swimming session tomorrow
- DH took DS1 shopping and got a new shirt and a single bed guard to stop DS1 falling out of bed - need both for next weekend
- i stayed home, washed up, watched rest of DVD rental, and fed and played with DS2
- Washed a load of DH's work clothes
- emptied shredder, shredded pile of stuff sorted other day
- remade cot and travel cot
- made tea for DS1
- we had a takeaway
- got DS2 to sleep
- remade our bed
- moved ironing pile and hols clothes onto new settee bed
- DH washed up
- threw out dead pot plant finally,
- watered my pepper seeds
- fed cats
- DH just got me some stuff for DS2 out of loft
plan for tomorrow:- food shop
- take the 2 boys swimming seems though they both loved it last week when i took them
- do some more packing for hols - all needs to be done by Thursday night so we can go ASAP on Fri morning.
- wash a load of white stuff
- wash the swimming stuff and towels
- make a shep pie for dinner
Right, that means i need to go and have a bath to sort out the bikini line, and get some mince out the freezer for tomorrows dinner - best wake DH up as he is currently asleep on the settee.
Night ladies. see you all tomorrow.
