My Barclaycard has now changed from pending to showing as a completed purchase (Argos Retail Group, Internet)
No phone call yet.... I ordered a shed also tool store as its a small shed. If my phone rings and the number is "not available" on the caller ID don't think I will answer it. No point in shooting myself in the foot and accepting their £10 voucher, in the mean time will call Consumer Direct..

Just spoke to Consumer Direct on 08454 04 05 06 and was told that Homebase have the right to terminate the contract due to an advertised price error even though I got a confirmation email and have had the money withdrawn from my visa card...

I haven't recieved a phone call yet but I'm sure one is on the way. I too really need the shed, what shall I say to them when they call?

To be honest I would be way nice to them so you get your £10 voucher.....if they phoned to say it was a misprice there is no way on earth they will agree to give you it at that price.

Just got the phone call from Homebase. Sorry, it was a misprice, real price was £250 for shiplap and £199 for overlap.

Offered 20% off or cancel and receive a £10 gift voucher for the inconvenience.
Interesting ... considering Argos are selling it for £169.99 (exactly the same picture & everything) ... they aren't doing themselves any favours misleading people over the true price :naughty:

If the contract is not formed until they despatch the item, then on what grounds have they taken money from people's accounts without any contract to do so?
That would possibly be theft then? To take money from someone without a contract?

I think the whole "take money" = "contract" is correct, from what I've read / heard in the past.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Got the call today and gratefully accepted the voucher, saves me trying to sell the shed on ebay. :D
Hopefully more offers like this will come along.
    Thanks to OP.

We all like a bargain and I know that the mark up is likely 100% on this shed but I doubt whether any of us will get anywhere pursuing the matter any further. I think its decent of Homebase to offer a £10 voucher for our trouble and disappointment and I personally will accept the voucher, if offered it, and thank them without complaining to some poor stressed out girl/guy on the phone who are likely on minimum wage and have heard it all before.

How about thanking them for having the courtesy to call and explain that it was a misprice, then graciously accepting their generous offer of a ten pounds voucher.
