OH is busy turning the mince into a chilli, so that will make about 4 meals for the 2 of us (OH is VERY particular about his chillis so I've not got a chance in hell of getting him to stretch it out with lentils, oats, veggies etc ) I need to get back on track with my diet tho as need to shift a stone before I order my wedding frock, so I think I'll get some quorn for making chillis so that I can eat that while he has his meaty stuff. Can I stretch out a quorn chilli with oats, lentils etc, or is it just meat based ones? I can put whatever I like in my quorn chilli 'cos OH won't be eating it :D

Would he stretch the chilli with an extra tin of value Kidney beans as they are very cheap.

We are all veggie, I make chilli often and use a mixture of beans and veg as I don't eat Quorn/soya. Not very OS but I use tinned pulses such as Kidney beans, black eyed beans or DS favourite which is butterbeans. I chuck in a tin of baked beans too as they give it extra flavour. I often add a handful of red or green dried lentils. I use whatever veg is in the fridge but mainly peppers, onions, courgette, carrot, green beans and frozen sweetcorn/baby corn and peas. Using these types of veg would be lower in cals than Quorn.

I,ve been a good girl today, have taken sandwiches to work and drank lots of water instead of buying coffee from m/c. I must say my lettuce is beautiful, so fresh as I picked it today from the garden, so that with a can of tuna was my healthy dinner. I must try to get the train to work as it costs my nowt, instead of £1.10 on the bus. It,s just the timings that are wrong for me but £5.50 a week is a lot to throw away, thats an extra £20 I could pay to cards a month, must try harder.

EDIT) did anyone see that extra £2.00 just dissapear, thats the way my money goes. lol

Well I'm really  . I went to Mr T after work to get a few bits and my cat really likes the little foil trays of cat food quote]

My puss likes the Lidl ones which are 20p
Also the Morrisons ones at 23p each - so it depends where I'm shopping...

But I give her half at a time and leave out Morrisons own biscuits.;)

I think it's her age - she used to be fine with tinned food. She's 10 now.

You should do this no problem, and welcome millyscarlett. It will depend on how much you can get your girls to back you on it and how fussy they are. I think a lot of peeps on here keep it quiet if they know the family will baulk at eating anything out of the ordinary. Just sneak things like a handfull of oats into mince dishes to bulk it up, if they dont like veg, grate it into dishes so they dont notice, buy full fat mlik and water it down, just a little. You will, if you read back find all sorts of sneaky ways to make your money go further. Good luck.;)

My Mum told me about a book or a play where the main character could deal with any financial hardship as long as she had money for hyacinths. It got me thinking, what one 'luxury' would you never give up as it gives 'meaning' to your life when times are tough?

Morning all,

Good nights sleep last night and just preparing stuff ready for work now - then into the shower and off. Looking forward to today as start on show home plus another ladies house.... I get to play with cushions and stuff! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hopefully NSD today - am taking sandwiches and my water with me and must just resist the temptation of a latte in the shop.... must resist.....must resist..... :o

Have a good day all, Den x

OOOH Sian the Green, will have to think about what I couldn't do without... Right at this moment it's a cup of tea.... Seriously, when times are really tough just having something special really helps - be it hyacinths or something else to focus on - it helps you put things into perspective.
Mine was a hug. Sounds really silly but when things were really low for us when we lost house and rest of stuff, just sitting down and having a hug with my hubby (or the kids, although they didn't quite know what was going on) really helped me - put things into perspective that we were still together even if the world was falling in around us. Can't imagine having to go through that on my own - those hugs saved me from insanity I think...

Morning all :D

Sosh -hope things improve for you soon

Another NSD for me today :j ..... thats 5 in a row if you don't count that 2c i spent the other day :rotfl: ...

Hubby announced last night that he has got next week off..seems he has over 7 weeks holiday to use before April.... so he has put a week in...hmmm shouldn't make much difference to the meal plan and we will get out n about and get some walking done and burn some extra "wobble" off :p .... Im just trying to resist his offer to take me to the Oriental supermarket :o -that would do this months budget NO good at all  -lets see how long i resist ;)

Yesterdays hm thai beef curry hm naans and noodles was lovely -i did the last of the peas and a few green beans out of the garden with it mmmm

Tonight im making some more tortilla wraps (going to make a couple of extra batches so i can free the balls of dough;) )-going to use some roast chicken out of the freezer and mix it with sweetcorn, onion, a bit or quark with paprika in and have them with a big salad....

Not much to do today.. Spent ages in the garden yesterday, got all the dead stuff out of the way... moved my tomatoes around and took away a lot of the extra greenery so the plant can concentrate on the tomatoes and the sun can get to ripen them better... took some doing as i have 30 tomato plants :rotfl: so just want to set some more seeds today and thats me about done for now..then im going to x stitch :j well it is for a xmas pressie :D
have a great day everyone and keep up the great work
