    Hi BigBird

I would throw the spinach in with egg mix -before the dry goods -so it distributes through evenly -and so you don't have to overwork the muffin mix-as once you add the flour etc in you are best to mix as little as possible as they may go tough n chewy ;)

Just read the bit about dividing the mix  ..I wouldn't bother (extra washing up n all that :rotfl: )... I would just spoon some into each paper then put in the cheese then dollop more mix on top ;) but i am prone to concocting :o :rotfl:

  • After buying the 'cost an arm and a leg' teeny tiny Gluten Free loaves of bread from the supermarket (which I can only eat toasted coz they taste horrid otherewise!) I have just made my first ever Gluten Free loaf in the bread maker and have just cut the crust off (a normal size crust not an alice in wonderland shrunken size crust which would satisfy a mouse!), I've slathered it with some flora buttery and it is divine - soft and tasty!!

I don't know what it'll taste like tomorrow or after being frozen but it looks and smells and tastes delish fresh out of the bm. It works out at about £1.50 a loaf - £1.10 for the flour and then extra added on (guesstimates) for the milk, oil, vinegar, etc (which I realise is more expensive than a normal loaf) but it's still cheaper and bigger than shop bought - it costs me £2 for the tiniest loaf of bread you've ever seen!

I'm going to persevere with making my own now that I've managed one loaf and am going to have a go at a homemade pizza base this evening for tea!

I am very pleased with myself...:o now, if I can just find somewhere that sells the flour cheaper...:D

Talking of cheaper - I have £56.90 left of my shopping budget for this week and was about to give myself a little pat on the back - only 4 days to go - should manage that nicely - or so you would think - that is unless your husband just announced that we are having a bbq on saturday for about 13 and I am now frantically trying to think of ways to feed them and supply booze without going over my budget! I really am going to swing for himself shortly...

Hi there, please could you tell me how you make your yoghurt in the sc? I tried the other day with UHT, small pot of Yeo Valley and powdered milk - it was really thin and powdery tasting. Used to make it in a flask, but big flask seems to have vanished  Any help and idiot proof instuctions and tips would be much appreciated, thank you! :D

Hi there just click this link:

I have experimented loads and it seems the longer you leave it the better it tastes (overnight is best I find). Plus straining it through muslin for an hour helps immensely as I found it too runny before.

I have however had the results you describe when I try to make batch #2 from batch #1 though, which I am really annoyed about... anyone got ideas?

Me muvva & I went to our closest MrA yesterday--still an hour's drive each way if you get a good tail wind--& think my haul was pretty good. Altho it's coming out of the September budget, at least 2/3rds of the £65 total is investment for the colder weather for things like 'a bed in a bag' that included a duvet, pillow SIZE=1]2 in the double size[/SIZE & protectors for £8 single & a tenner for the double.

Trouble with this kind of shopping trip is we get easily lost in a not-that-familiar store so miss an awful lot of the true grocery deals & have to leave the frozen & chilled alone :o But saying that I got a whoopsied shoulder of pork & put it in t'oven soon as I got in, to slice up for cold cuts for a few packed lunches & maybe a dinner...we actually remembered to take a chilled bag AND the frozen blocks this time :p Best go visit mum tonight then & 'borrow' her slicer:D

Pup has had his annual jabs today but the offspring pay [me back  ] for those..or they had better if they want food for the coming month

  • Popped into asda for plimsoles for DD and realised I had to buy packed lunch bits, spent £6(£5 food,£1 tip) in a cafe yesterday too so spent another £13.33 in total on food. Thanks in the main to the reduced cabinets at tesco my monthly total for August is £99.76 out of a £200 budget.:D
    I will have my usual
£200 budget again for September as I cannot guarantee the reduced bargains.

Wow, almost the end of the month. Have run out of flour again today!! :o Have gone through two large sacks this month with all that bread making.

Oh well, think I need to keep better control of my reciepts etc, as I did lose track there towards the end of how much I spent. Still not doing too bad as my freezer is actually not so frightening anymore, nothing falls out when I open the door :rotfl: so I can't have done too badly, cupboards getting the odd empty spot as well.

Was my first attempt afterall, and will put myself down for $80 again next month, :j
