  • Morning!
AngelNikki/Penelope Penguin can you please put me down for £278.20!!! and £350 again for September. Thanks
Had a good month, been away for a week but what I bought in food to take away still brought me under my£350, but the money was separate and I need the psychological boost of a low monthly spend!! Am now converted to almost total bread maker (only buy odd loaf for DS - as fussy) which I think is saving me a bit, not my waistline unfortunately - the bread is yummy particularly the seedy one, I now eat far more than I used to, hey ho can't have it all ways! hope to have a good September> Hope everyone else having a good month.

  • Hi all,
Just a quick update, spent £67 on the weekly shop yesterday and added to DH's spend of around £8 last saturday (he can't remember, had been on long drive back from holiday). So my total's around £199. Hopefully can keep just under the £200 which is great because my budget was £300 but then not so great when I think we've been away for 2 weeks of the month.....:o
Only 6 days to go and have a fairly well stocked fridge.

Morning all -hope you are all enjoying the bank holiday :D

Well I don't know what came over me this morning -but i got out of bed fully intending to have a walk to the supermarket  not sure if i got a sudden case of spending withdrawal panics or what..but I'm still sat here :D ..NOT going..I'm NOT :naughty: ..looking outside now it looks like there is a storm coming :j Won't go out in that will I :rotfl:
Its my first day of Septembers budget and I WILL get off to a good start:p .. Come Saturday I will need to do several supermarkets at once -hubby will love it-not :rotfl: he will be ok as long as he remembers to take a suduko book (he sits in the car with that -whilst i shop :T )..... Its lots of odds n sods that i need to replace..have been making a concerted effort to NOT replace items willy nilly..I usually end up with several "back ups" 3 tubs of cream cheese, spare jar mayo/salad cream etc -well I have used them up ;)

Hubby has taken a flask of HM cream of broccoli soup and 4 lumps of HM bread -so that will keep him warm...the weather is really wiered at the moment...almost like we are starting Autumn early

For dinner I'm doing steamed potatoes, salad and soft goats cheese with garlic n herbs, oooh and HM coleslaw -another fave in this house ...and that will use up the last of the lettuce for now :T the rest of this week will be warm meals i reckon... it is soooo making me want stew n dumplings, cornedbeef hash etc :o

I have started sorting out a list of what extras I want to get in for over winter... so we will see how much that comes too ...pinkies crossed.. mind i will do so much this month, so much next etc... and if i have to I will use my extra " bulk buying" budget ...would like not to mind.. so will see how much i can get out of the €100 i have designated for this month
right -enough waffle -i will get off and get something done..have a great day everyone:D

I am a bit over, not by much though, and I tried pretty hard, just got over spent with son being sick and having to buy cough liquid etc stuff which went into food bill ( figure that one, but I guess its because I get from supermarket lol)

Oh well, desperately need some veges too, as am down to pumpkin, beans, potatoes, onions, carrot and parsnip and that doesn't leave much for variety, and only one green vege. So might have to spend a bit more than I have budgeted for, unless there are some more veges in the freezer i dont know aobut lol...will have to check.

Think I will truck on for the same next month, can't remember the last time I bought bread lol...:o

Thanks MrsM, i might try the pies tommorow!

At the mo im using disposable nappies and baby wipes. both of these are comming of my grocery budget, i spend at least £25 month.

i want to find out about reusable nappies. i know nothing  and want to put little one into them. i need to get some very very cheaply, preferably free as money is so tight. i dont know what size my little one would be or what type i would need, id use any!!

im sorry to put this on here, but as its part of my grocery budget i need to do something!! id love to be more enviromentally friendly and of course save money!!!:money:

    thanks karen
I use babykind.co.uk and found them very helpful. I think they have nappy agents over the country who can come and do a demo for you.
Not sure about e-bay, have they changed the nappy selling rules ? (there was all sorts off hoo ha about used nappies for sale a while back).
I use real nappies as much as I can, pretty much 100% day time and 50% night time, although use sposies on hols (tend to buy them with boots points though).
It is an outlay to buy the nappies to start with though :( do you know anyone who could lend you some ?

Today will be a NSD, its raining and am just indoors, keeping DS happy and seeing what else needs doing housework wise . Might stick some washing on if the rain looks like disappearing.

  • NSD for me yesterday, no such luck today, as usual no milk on a Monday morning... and local Somerfield yet again had no one or two pinters of normal blue top milk so I had to buy the organic stuff. I've updated my sig to reflect that. Then I nearly had to go out again to get some sugar as DS (not dear) had used it all overnight, but luckily found some caster and brown in the cupboard which will do for today and tomorrow - assuming DS doesn't find it *rhe*

Hope everyone has a good bank holiday with NSDs galore!

I will start September GC on Monday 1st and my budget will be £280

I don't want to start too low as I will only demotivate myself if I completely blow it. This is for 2ad, 2ch, 2cats, 1 rabbit. The dog food comes out of a different budget as I bulk buy it off the internet. I think I will start doing this with the cat and rabbit food too.

I have started costing out my meals (well the dinners anyway, I will eventually get around to doing lunches and breakfasts too)
I can't believe such a big deal was made about Jamies Oliver making meals for under a fiver, My most expensive meal of pork, mash, cabbage, carrots, onion gravy only came to £3.73. My cheapest meal (so far) of tuna pasta only cost £1.48 those prices are for all four of us!
