MMmmmmm 13th aug and £3 left of food budget:eek: . Thing is, I have bulk bought some stuff which will last quite a time, and totally restocked my spices & herbs and it is cheaper to bulk buy them through mail order & they will last ages so it will not be all used this month. Got loads of food in. Will just run short of fruit I think. The challenge is on! There ain't no more money.
Big bird - I get paid on 28th of the month but I'm doing calender months for the challenge, it just feels better in my head.
Love the sound of your patio growers:j . Nearly planted a sprouting potato today....maybe tomorrow:DI try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Hi everyone,
so much for my planned NSD for today - ended up spending £45.42 and have updated signature. Managed to get my 10kg bag of potatoes from Mr M that I had been waiting for and the rest was for reduced items in Mr A which will give lots more meals. They were all reduced by at least half - I know that if I go later in the day the reductions (if the items are still there) are much better but I can't go then and having them at this price is still a big saving as they are things I would buy anyway.

No spend day for me today. DS treated me to tea, which was a lovely surprise. He came home with a bag of prawns, stir fry veg and sauce and a tub of Ben and Jerry's ice-cream. I only had to provide the noodles and garlic
Bless I am having a proud mummy moment - don't have many of those - tomorrow I will be yelling at him for leaving his boxers on the bathroom floor :rotfl:

*bigbird* I find it easier to do a weekly amount than a monthly. I was finding that I was shopping on random days then spending more. If I try to plan a weekly amount in my head then I spend less, I start my week on a Monday.
DH gets paid on 15th and when I was working I got paid later in the month. It meant that I never really felt when the month begain IYSWIM.Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!0 -
well.....I gave in to kid pressure this evening and am feeling very annoyed with myself!
I am just so tired from work this week that I can't be bothered to cook from scratch tonight so I bought a load of stuff for the kids tomorrow whilst I am at work.
Unfortunately it includes bottles of diet coke, crisps and chocolate bars.Bad mother me!!
Was just so tired of being moaned at and having to prepare/cook lunch for them the evening before.
They did have HM pizza for lunch with salad today as I made a pizza last night.
On a more positive ms note Iceland have 4pts milk at £1.20 or 2 for£2 which is a bargain!!0 -

Forgot to say when I went to Nottingham I took the ingredients for weetabix Chocolate Brownies with me I premixed sugar, flour and cocoa powder and thought I could just add weetabix egg and marg and it would mean cheap cakes whilst out and about. But in my haste to get it cooked before bed one night I forgot to add the weetabix. Couldn't understand why it resembled a sponge cake rather than te brownies we are used to then I realised Whoops forgot weetabix Gingerly tried and wow I forget the weetabix every time now It is delicious obviously doesn't make quite as much and I think I will add a bit of orange zest next time I'm drooling just thinking about it.
Surprised it was edible but the girls and oh love it.Thanks to MSE savings we got to go to Disneyworld Florida.

I would like to join and I am hoping to stick to a budget of £350 this month, thats the 15th to the 12th of September. My usual budget is around £400 so trying to cut back
