    Hello all,

Just thought I would mention that Tesco have their vanilla extract reduced from £2.69 to £2.42. I know, not much of a saving but better than nothing :)
They also have Gressingham whole duck (3kg) for half price - £8.67, which works out at £2.89/kg

I wonder if sales of hobnobs have plummeted since Twinks recipe came out :)

In other news Guess what's returning for good on Oct 6th :D. I expect all our grocery budgets will double.

Just a quick heads up in case this is of use to anybody.

I noticed in the newspaper thread on the vouchers board that today's News of the world contains a voucher for £5.00 off a £30 shop in Tesco (valid until the 16th August). The paper costs 95p so as I don't normally buy that paper it's really only a saving of £4.05 but better than nothing. :D

    Thanks Denise

    Just preparing our dinner:
HM glamorgan sausages, with value potatoes (I agree good quality but don't leave them in plastic bag too long) whoopsied parsnips and whoopsied carrots.
Dessert: HM blueberry crumble cake with garden grown raspberries and creme fraiche.
So proud of our MS efforts and being able to share them with you guys... looking at the dreadful weather glad we spent our time in the kitchen using up bits and bobs before our holiday.
Lovely time with my lovely OB

Gailey - I have the same problem, I can easily add £30 to my shopping bill with all the cakes etc I buy from the store. So, baking definitely IS cheaper (unless you follow Nigella Lawsons recipes :) ). HOWEVER, it is only *healthier* if you do not eat all the cakes you make - this is very very difficult to do as they will be so yummy.
Plus home made is not full of the additives, preservatives, colourants etc which shop bought is.

Here is the recipe for Millies cookies. Check out the Mega Index for pages and pages of cake.

Yes, you can make crisps, slice some potates really thinly and fry them in a little oil until crispy. They are nice made with slices of parsnip etc. You might have to soak them in cold water before cooking to get the starch out, I can't remember. There are threads about it, will have a look in a minute.
    HM crisps
    Root veg crisps

Has anyone tried value pork? I know everyone says to stay away frm value meat, but this is already cut up into nice chunks...

Blairweech - I have used other value meat and not had a problem so I would try it and see. I am going to look out for it next time now LOL

Gailey - Also try the Twinks hob nobs - I am sure he will love them like we wll do - yummy!! Also there was a custard biccie recipe a few pages back that I haven't tried yet but everyone seems to love them!

I have had 3 NSD so far which is good for me ;) I resisted temptation to get more 50p deals today and have made a saus cass for the freezer with saus left over from BBQ!!

 Be very careful if you're going to put wet things in hot oil as that can start a fire! If they're starchy, just pat them dry with a bit of kitchen roll or a clean dry teatowel instead ;)

The best way to do homemade crisps is to slice really thinly, drizzle with a tiny bit of oil and then bake in the oven ;) Try these threads: Homemade crisps, Making crisps, Healthy vegetable crisps

    Good Evening to all M.Sers

Gailey, I have been imagining you on the Vespa with all your shopping :rotfl: do be careful.

Angelnikki You have given me motivation to check my freezer and cupboards
Good job really cos I have spent most of this weeks budget, but
hopefully will not have to spend any more this week, think I will
take to my bed until next Friday, I could probably plan menus:D

Yesterday made fruit cobbler but didnt grease the dish so was
hard to get out, "stardrops" to rescue to clean out dish.
Thankyou everyone for all your recipes and good ideas what an
    inspiration you all are.:T
