    Hi everyone :hello:

Denise You can use normal apples the same as cooking ones. I would grate them and add to pork meatballs, or dice them and add to pork casserole (not sure about adding to beef though _pale_ :p) or just stew them and freeze ready for desserts or adding to porridge/cereal. ;)

KAAT I found my cat asleep in his favourite spot in the sun last year :( he was over 20 but it was still very sad to lose him. (((Hugs)))

    Good Luck annelouise :)

Today I've done a list of whats in my freezer/cupboards, I have:
2x 500g beef mince, 1x 500g pork mince, 1x 500g lamb mince, 5x pork chops, 6x sausages, 1x cooking bacon, 6x chicken breasts, 8x chicken burgers, 2x southern fried chicken, 13x salmon fillets, 4x cod portions, 20x fish fingers, 2x battered fish, 6x veggie sausages
6x tuna, 2x corned beef, 2x hotdogs, 5x chopped tomatoes, 1x plum tomatoes, 5x baked beans, 2x kidney beans, 1x cannellini beans, 1x sliced carrots, 1x new potatoes, 2x condensed chicken soup, 2x condensed tomato soup
2x custard, 2x rice pudding, 2x pineapple slices, 2x peach quarters, 1x pear halves, 1x mandarin segments, 1x grapefruit salad
3kg penne, 3kg fusilli, 1kg macaroni, 1kg cous cous, 2kg long grain rice, 2kg basmati rice
2x 1.5kg plain flour, 3x 1.5kg s r flour, 2x 1.5kg bread flour, 1.5kg wholemeal flour, 6x Hovis bread mixes, 2kg granulated sugar, 2kg oats Plus all the pasta/rice/flour/sugar I have open in kilner jars.

So I've done a mealplan for the next 5 weeks, after which I will still have enough meat left over for another 2 weeks worth of meals :o So I dont need to buy any meat until October!!

I've booked my MrT delivery for Tuesday, it should come to about £60 as I have to buy nappies for the rest of the month and some other household stuff aswell as the usual milk, F&V, snacks for exOH  , ...

    Take care everyone :D

  • Big weekly shop today with new and improved meal plan format:rotfl: - came in just over and still have to get some more things! (basket was getting heavy)

Still, I got some extra meat BOGOF and there will be 4-5 meals by the end of the week that I'll be putting in the freezer so not too bad. I'm just hoping I manage to stick to the meal plan - doing a few SC things this week so will have to make sure I set it all up in the morning!!

  • IOIWE,

I attempted a carrotcake once but ended up with masses of carrot leftover and the topping running everywhere. God knows what I did wrong:rotfl: :rotfl:

i always have runny icing too, i find that if i make it and then stick it in the fridge for an hour, then ice the cake then back in the fridge for at least another hour, it just about stays put then ;)

Wow, I am really impressed, this is a great stock, sometimes think I've built up good supplies. Just read out to OH, he was impressed too, told him my cupboards are empty in comparison. :rotfl: Hope not we're trying to live on them for next two weeks.
  • kAAT-LADY-Thinking of you...

IOIWE-I know your wedding isn't just yet but I will be away for the big day so before I forget I hope you have the most magical day!! Special thoughts sent your way...

Denise/Herewegoagain-Congrats on OHs' jobs.OB is still looking...

4MoneySaver-My family know about the challenge. Mum loves going whoopsie hunting with me and my sister is pretty good at not wasting food on the whole (her OH is very MS which helps). My best friend (who lives in Australia) loves the idea but I don't tell many 'friends' as it can create a bit of jealousy..which is ironic since there is nothing stopping them doing the same as us is there???

Back from Lincolnshire. What a beautiful county..we'll definitely go back and next time hopefully the sun will be shining!

Catnap53, Perriwinkle, BigMummaF, Mrs Snowy-Thanks for the cucumber ideas. Now I just have to chose which one to use...

We've made a big pan of Minestrone soup and Blueberry crumble cake today. Soup we enjoyed for lunch and cake is in oven so I'll let you know how it turns out.

    Be back later...

Oh I dare not list mine! It would take 2 pages! I must be a compulsive hoarder! If I really wanted to I think I could last 3 months! Oh dear oh dear I must cut back. Your contents are very similar to mine though ;+) Just I would need to addeven more "stuff" to it.

Well done on your meal plans Nikki. I picked some nice rhubard today and found a box of frozen figs in the freezer so I think its rhubarb and figs with brown sugar topped with a crumble topppings(oats in there of course)and custard. Not had figs and rhubarb before-but it sounds ok to me.

Thanks Denise-Ithink it will be chilli meatballs with pasta for tea-and to eat tomorrow. We have our own chillis too so I should use them. I also can use one of our homegrown peppers-oh this "nearly free" food is great.
Tomatoes a plenty too so I will throw some of those in to make a sauce.
    Well-thats that sorted!
