wish i had the balls to print that image out and show next time i shop. The past 2 weeks ive got £0 off my bill. I had some pampers ones i wanted to use and both times they refused to even wave it over and just said "this one doesn't work" and handed it back to me. Same with some that i printed out for items that i didn't buy (the magazine offers etc) i was told they wouldnt take them - for anyone wondering this is old swan branch in Liverpool (so a pretty bigish store)

I have added the image to my printouts (various emails and previous policy wording posted on MSE) and carry them in my bag with my coupons. I have shown the info to managers in the past and 95% of the time I have then been allowed to use my coupons.

The odd 5% are a couple of cases cases where different stores got really silly about it and I just left my stuff & walked away. Some stores won't budge but most will if a customer lends a bit of weight to the matter by politely showing them their own policy. I find that quite amusing!

You never know when you might meet a new Supervisor who doesn't know the policy, even in a good store. So it's worth copying the info & carrying it around, IMHO you don't need balls to have printed out a policy that is already in the public domain from an open forum.

Go on, copy & print it LilMissEmmylou!

its a great benefit that tesco accepts these moc escpecially in todays credit issues!!!!!!

i think the problem Tesco are having is that certain individuals are abusing this policy and spoiling it for everyone else!!!!!!!!!!!

i have had individuals who have had £10 of moc's knocked off a £100 shop which is great to the customer!!
    but........................................
you then have individuals who try and get a £100 bill down to ..........£0,which is unfair and in a way criminal, if people used thispolicy fairly then the real mse's would benefit but because some people are greedy then it is only a matter of time till Tesco bans all moc's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hmmm this is an arguement that comes out quite often. What normally happens is that individual store stops taking coupons - which i agree is a really shame, but there will always be those types around - its a shame but a fact.

In general, coupons are good for Tesco - they infact get extra money for them, so its a win-win situation. Yet there is the thought that eventually as more and more people are using coupons, they will start getting swamped with them and change policy. Now I hope that doesn't happen, but I guess we just need to watch that space as they say.

I think it makes a big difference where the Tesco store is situated- if it is the only supermarket in the town then they seem to operate a 'one coupon only policy', however if there are quite a few large supermarkets then there is competition (eg from Asda) and so they take coupons willingly!
Long may they take mocs as it does increase customer goodwill!:j

I have just emailed Tesco Customer Services asking for a coupon policy letter to be sent to my home address and stating why. Hopefully I'll get a desired response!!!

It'll be very interesting to know if they reply with the same points as in the poster above's scanned staff copy.
My nearest Tesco treat you like a criminal if you try and use just a couple of net coupons!
  • I went today and was told they do not accept vouchers unless you buy the product

I asked how long this had been going on for she said about 2 months I said funny that i shop every week and this is the first time

she replied she had signed some document to say she could not accept coupons if the product was not brought!!!!

    I've been Money Tipped!
The supervisor at my local Tesco Extra said if I bought the product I could use two coupons against it, she quoted 'One plus one'.

Now does that mean, if I buy for example a bag of Pedigree dog biscuits, I can use 2 x £1 Pedigree coupons off the one bag or does it mean 1 x £1 Pedigree coupon and a coupon for something else (as long as they stock it)?
  • Hello
Sorry to disagree but I have been to Tesco today with two coupons both sold instore and they refused to take either at first but then took one after denying that that had ever taken without purchase
Asda is one way and Tesco the other - same distance so you would think they would be more obliging as they wouldn't even try to scan
I have been behind customers in the same store and seen them pay for £30+ groceries withcoupons and only £1+ of their own money - this is what alerted me to coupons
Same store different SA and different outcome very unfair
    Asda here I come
