The fire balloons in the photo (link in post no 29) are just taking off and they rise very high quite quickly and drift away on the wind. The balloons are only about 2 or 3 feet tall, so soon all that you can see is the light from the flame. The flame is orange-yellow and surprisingly large and bright. As it drifts away it looks like a very bright yellowish star, not like a balloon at all, and very much as you describe. We could see them for several minutes and although it is hard for me to judge distances they could still be seen a long way away - several miles I would think.

Dreemgirl, I am sorry that you are still alarmed. It might be worth buying a few yourself and seeing what they look like. You might find this reassuring. Lots for sale on Ebay or by Googling.

Technically the things the OP saw were UFOs. They were in the sky, implying that they were flying, they are objects, and they are unidentified. UFO != aliens.

Personally, I do believe there is life out there. Its just too unlikely that there is no other life in the universe. But are they visiting us, abducting people and poking probes in places they shouldn't? I doubt it.
